Smashing c.l. with great sea views

My wife and I received a very warm and very friendly welcome from Mike on arrival, and always chatty through our three day stay in April. Mike showed us plenty wood planks to put under 'van wheels to assist levelling on some of the slightly uneven ground, but some of this could have been due as Mike explained to the extremely wet conditions recently experienced in that part of Scotland. Top entrance area was drying out nicely already when we departed. There were some hard standings but we decided to pitch in lower corner as that offered the better view across the wide Moray Firth, absolutely fantastic views. We have satellite receiver on roof of caravan, but were unable to get signal due to nearby 'tall' trees, but adjacent vans with standard rooftop aerials had no problems. Water points, chemical waste points all kept clean and tidy. Nearby fishing villages Findochty, also Portnockie, lovely quaint old style harbours, spotlessly clean, no street litter. Don't miss Bow & Fiddle Rock at Portnockie. We visited Dolphin Centre at Spey Bay, free to enter, donations welcome, we unfortunately didn't spot any dolphins on our visit, but very interesting and some lovely walks around the centre, include visit to the old ICE HOUSE at the centre. Put your body warmer or coat on, it is chilly in there. We enjoyed this site immensely and have no hesitation in recommending it, thank you to Mike and Brenda for an excellently presented c.l.

A Great CL for Cyclists and Walkers

Very good welcome by Mike on arrival and we enjoyed an active holiday. Unusually, the site has free Wi Fi and there is a good mobile signal and TV reception. Some of the pitches need a little care and some blocks to get set up and level but worth the effort for the view. Good water and disposal facilities and good elec hook-ups. Nearby road a little intrusive and busier than its' single track size would indicate. For cyclists and walkers the coastal cycle route and path provide plenty of opportunity to leave the car at the site and enjoy traffic-free activity. The pub in the village is useful if you want basic food or lager - forget real ale - it is not popular here. Very friendly and not expensive. If you like an active holiday in a site with a great sea view this is the place for you. Mike is very helpful and the site is clearly very popular.

Lovely Sea Views

Great welcome from Mike on arrival, very tidy and neat site. The information hut has a small library of books and magazines (and sweets). Lovely sea views of the Moray Firth, cycle way at the end of the road towards the village. Mike has just installed Wi-fi which was superfast.Would use this site again.

Great CL

Mike and Brenda are a great couple and made us feel so welcome. They were so helpful and friendly.  The site was easy to find, handy for local amenities and a visit to Baxters at Fochabers is a must.  Just along the coast we watched seals but unfortunately we didn't see dolphins from the site.  Mike recommended places to eat and see and there is also an information hut on site with a book store. We saw some fantastic sunsets whilst staying there.  We would definitely recommend this CL and plan to visit again.

A little gem

This is a lovely CL, with a wonderful setting overlooking the countryside around and the Moray Firth beyond. We received such a warm friendly welcome from Mike and Brenda, and help with setting up and leaving the site. Water and disposal facilities are good and although some pitches are a bit sloping, Mike has blocks ready if you don't have some yourself. The harbour village of Findtochty, pronounced Finechty is delightful with a good pub serving evening meals. Mike has plenty other recommendations for eating out too not too far away. It is about a half mile walk downhill to the village, but a steep haul back up if walking, there is plenty free parking available though. We particularly enjoyed a visit to the dolphin centre, all free with a lovely cafe and very helpful staff who do a viewing through telescope every hour  and also show live webcam feeds in the centre of the dolphins. It is only about 4 miles away and is where the river Findhorn meets the sea. The Spey way walk starts here too and there is a coastal path linking the villages along the coast with some very easy walks. There is not a lot of "high life" about if you are looking for entertainment. However, the wildlife, particularly the dolphins, otters, ospreys and others too numerous to mention kept us more than entertained. We will be back!

Best CL site EVER!!!!

This cl site is the best one we have ever stayed at.  Left last weekend and booked again for this weekend ??  Mike and Brenda are just lovely.....maybe that has something to do with the fact that they are from Yorkshire too ???? We all had a lovely relaxing weekend. We walked to the local village and sampled a couple of pints of Caledonian Best ??.  The shop in the village had everything we needed.  Definitely recommend this site and we can't wait to go back ?? TEAM BAKER ?????????? Thank u Mike and Brenda

Great little CL

This is a great little CL with fantastic views over the Moray Firth. Mike & Brenda gave us a very warm welcome and couldn't do enough for us. The site overlooks Findochty and is easy access to the nearby walking routes. There is a regular bus service within easy reach of the site. We will certainly look forward to going back there.
