My first CL with a Motorhome

Well signposted and a very easy access to the site. The site is sloping which for a caravan should not be a problem, but for a motorhome you should consider using ramps. The site is well maintained with the grass cut short and the cuttings removed. Using the "Cinder Track", which is right next to the site, an hours walk get you to Robin Hood's Bay (RHB). For better views take the coastal path, which will take another half hour, but is well worth the effort. The bus service (X93) runs past the site and will take you south to RHB and Scarborough, or north to Whitby and Middlesbrough. From Whitby use the X4 bus service to visit Staithes, Saltburn and Redcar. We will most definiately visit this site again.

Book Early

Site gets fully booked through summer so book early to avoid disappointment. Easy to find , we just drop a pin on The Hare and Hounds pub on Google maps and site is clearly signed on opposite side of road. One hardstanding pitch and the rest is pitch where you like. The owners just let you get on with it, but are available if needed. If it has been raining heavily I recommend pitching near top of field beside entrance where you can hook up to ehu on side of barn. We made mistake once of pitching at bottom of field in November, where the grass became waterlogged and we had to be towed off by owners tractor. Cinder track runs adjacent to site and this is both a plus and a minus: there is some noise from people/cyclists/dogs etc going past but it wasn't too bad and on the positive side you can literally walk onto it from site and get to Robin Hoods Bay in one direction (it took us an hour) and Whitby the other way (took approx 1 hour 45mins). There are no views from site itself but it is in a fabulous location for exploring the Yorkshire Coast. The Hare and Hounds pub is a lovely friendly place that serves amazing food and is a short walk across the road from site. Further afield (5 min drive) is The Windmill Inn in Stainsacre which also serves delicious home cooked meals using top quality ingredients. There are fresh farm eggs available to buy using honesty box at bottom of drive. We love this site and heartily recommend it.

Second Visit and Superb once again

Arrived on Thursday 9th July and once again the site was beautiful and well mown, peaceful and tranquil. the site is everything you could ask for from a CL. No toilet block but as we all have excellent facilities on board it doesn't Matter. Emma looks after this little site beautifully and next July will be back again for more. The previous reviews have said it all about location and its ideally positioned for everything Local. Thanks for a lovely stay

Carl and Jans Summer break at Swan Farm.

We have just got home after spending eight nights holiday here at Swan farm. The site is lovely, and the owners are very friendly and helpful. It was great to think when you planned your day,you had so many options open to you.Good access to the Cleveland way to walk to either Whitby, or Robin hoods bay.The cycle track at the back of the farm gave same options to Whitby and robin hoods bay.The bus stop at the bottom of the farm gave access to various routes along the east coast. We had a great meal at the Hare and Hounds at the bottom of the track.I wont go on anymore, all I will say is ,Brilliant we will certainly be coming back. Thanks again.Carl and Janet.

Delightful site

Stayed here for a week in mid March. On arrival we experienced an extremely friendly and warm welcome from Emma - who runs the farm with her father and throughout that week, she was delightful, especially allowing us to see the new born lambs (of which there were plenty!!) She couldn't have done anything more to make us feel absolutely welcome. Although there isn't a view as such, due to the high hedge between the site and the cinder track, it is conveniently located for visits to Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and beyond and the track itself provides a convenient area for dog walking. (Our Cockapoo, Meg, had an absolute ball playing with the farm dog, Rusty!) Slightly more traffic noise than I expected - thought it was further away from the main Whitby road than it was, but it wasn't enough to put us off going again. All in all, a good site and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely Peaceful Site

We recently stayed at this site for 3 nights in our motorhome.  A nicely mowed site located behind the farm with ample room for its 5 vans and hook up, fresh water and chemical disposal.  Slightly sloping but not enough to be a problem.  Very peaceful.  Ideally located for exploring the coastal area of the North York Moors, the site is right by the Cinder Track, a cycle/footpath that runs 21 miles between Whitby and Scarborough.  We cycled approx 3.5 miles to Whitby and spent a lovely day exploring this delightful seaside town and its abbey.  Cycling about 3 miles South takes you to Robin Hood Bay, a steep seaside village where the main road ends in the sea.  (I would leave you bikes at the top, cycling down is both a little hairy and there is no where really to leave bikes at the bottom).  The site is also accessible to the coast path although we did not do this due to the fog that persisted while we were there.

Wonderful!

We stayed here for 4 nights but wished we had stayed longer.  The site is tucked away behind the Farm and is beautifully maintained and quiet.  The walks to the coastal path and along the old railway line are quite literally on your door step.  It is a great place to walk to either Robin Hoods Bay or to Whitby on the coastal path, which our dog loved. Fresh eggs are available on site and Sainsburys is a 5 minute drive down the road.  A really lovely site in a great location to explore Whitby, Staithes, Robin Hood and Runswick Bay not forgetting the North Yorkshire Moors Railway which runs from Whitby.  Highly Recommended.

Fabulous & Fantastic

Just got back from a long weekend here and will return as regular as we can. The site is fantastic with ease of access and plenty of room to site your caravan. The site is beautifully mown and neat. This is a working farm and while we were there the sheep were being showered which was great to watch. The site is 100 yrds from the nearest pub which does fabulous food, we ate and drank here and was not dissapointed. The site itself is on the old whitby to Robin hoods bay railway and we walked easily to both, Just two fields away is the coastal footpath which has som fantastic Cliff scenery. The site is on the X93 bus service which stops right outside the farm so you can venture to scarborough, filey Teeside and beyond. The bus drops you in the centre of whitby. What more can i say Just Fabulous and we will be back for more if we can ever get in after this review.

wonderful site

spent a week here and the owners were extremely helpful and friendly. Fish & chip van visits the site and they were great every one on the site had them! lovely dog walks through the fields. only downfall is the road to it has quite steep hills and tight bends in places.  we would certainly visit again.

A nice simple CL

This CL is in a good location with footpath adjacent to Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. Not many views from the caravan pitches which is a shame as the area is lovely. They rarely answer the phone (even the mobile) when you call and can take some time for them to return your call (they always do eventually) but if you want a site at short notice you may struggle.
