Hidden treasure

This is a beautiful and quiet site right next to the canal. Easy cycling along the canal to Gloucester and Sharpness. A couple of pubs within walking distance. Slimbridge wildfowl centre is less than 3 miles away with an easy cycle along the canal. Plus we've had the bonus of hearing a cuckoo repeatedly.

Recommend site

As the other reviews have said this is a gem of a site. It is reasonably close to the M5 and on the outskirts of a pretty little village. Detailed instructions were left outside the house as it is down a lane in their private woodland. It was very clean quiet and peaceful.

Fantastic!

We really enjoy d this site! A small clearing in you g briadleaf trees right next to the canal. Access to the canel is back down the track and you ate there, a 2 minutes stoll, idyllic. The site is located on the side of the canal with no tow path and access is rxtricted, however There ate signs that once thete was anaccess to the canal bank from the site but is now overhrown with nettles if this coukd ge te-instated and a small decking area made on the bank for the ise of the clib this woman kd in my virw mak it one of the best cl's around. Bins, waste and water all easilt accesible. Lovely walk into Frampton on severn....loved it!

Fantastic peaceful CL

We stopped at this CL for 6 nights in May 2017. We were lucky enough to have this extremely secluded spot to our selves for 4 of those nights. The area is very flat with nice short grass and completely surrounded by trees and dense undergrowth nearly all the way round apart from the way in off the private lane. We had no trouble with the electric or TV signal. There is fresh water, waste bins and wet waste points the other side of the lane. There is peace and quite just the occasional tractor going down the lane and bird song filling the days. The village is just half mile or so away with two pubs, a café and a small shop. The canal is close by with nice walks in both directions. We loved it here as did our dogs due to the many and varied walks from the site. We are certainly planning on going back next year for another week. We never saw the owners just their son when we called in the farm to pay. A really nice and quite CL if that is what you like.

Re electrics

We were on site the same time as the people complaining about the electric. I wonder what they were using as I cook by electric, frying pan as well as a microwave, use an electric kettle, sometimes a fan and more often than not my husband is watching Tv at the same time and we have never had a problem. In fact we are returning to the site in August which will be our third visit this year. The site is very well maintained very peaceful with plenty of walks and very convenient for fishing. The site is well sheltered and a lovely sun trap. The owners are very pleasant and help[ful. In fact a perfect site for a relaxing holiday.

Lovely little site

We stayed here for 7 nights mainly to visit family. It has great access to m5 and a38 these being only a 10 minute drive away, but the site is lovely and peaceful. Well kept and beautifully mown grass, we had no problems with either electric or tv signal, although mobile was a different thing altogether. If you have Vodafone you can send and receive texts but nothing else, however o2 seemed fine. The reason for 2 stars for arrival is that we didn't see the owners at all (only to pay after walking back to the house after a couple of days). We only found out where everything was because another couple on site told us. Would have been nice to have put a face to the people we booked with. All that said we will be using the site again.

A place to chill

We loved this site. A little difficult to access but that is why it is so lovely and peaceful. A handy tip for arriving - drive through the village (delightful) through the green and down to the end to the road. It splits to left and right.  Take the right turn which has a signpost "CHURCH" keep on this road and keep to the left. Tanhouse Farmhouse is on the left and it is here that you stop to pay and get directions. If the owners are not there just read the instructions left for you. Follow the road down further and turn to the left by the canal bridge. Drive past a row of cottages to the farm gate - go through the gate and keep on the drive for a hundred yards or so. The site is on the right.  The site is private and grass is well cut. It is surrounded by trees with access through to the canal tow-path. Beware of overgrowing stinging nettles though. The electric supply was fine - we had no problems - and the posts are secluded in the bushes so be sure to look closely for them.  There is drinking water and chemical disposal just outside of the site gate.  We found this to be very relaxing and will visit again. Just for the record, we had a great t.v reception but did struggle with the mobile signal. We would love to go back for a few days and go into the village where there is a great pub.

If you want to chill, this is the place to do it

We love this site, we have been several times in both good and bad weather. Once here, that's it, time to switch off. The grass is kept well, lovingly mown and the grass is picked up so nothing on your feet to carry in. It is almost like being in your own field, the distance between the vans is really good. A short walk gets you into Frampton, where there are two very different pubs. We tend to eat at the The Horseshoes, where they make their own fantastic pies (with a difference). We have never had any problems with the electric on the site, but would n't be able to comment on the TV. We go here to relax and leave the every day world for a short while, there is no difficulty doing that on this site. Thank you for sharing your space with us.

Great for Some - Less so for Others

Quiet and secluded. Well cut grass and reasonably level. Great break if you want to cut yourself off from the world. Through the trees you have access to the canal, very nice walks with the occasional boat going by. There is a pot-holed, muddy (dusty if no rain) entrance track of about 300 yards, so go slowly. There is only a 10-amp electric supply which isn’t very reliable, it tends fluctuate for no reason and you could find your fridge off in the morning! This happens even more so when there are other caravans in the field draining the supply. Using an electrical kettle trips the supply even with no other electrics in the van being used. The owners prefer you to move spot after two weeks if you have an awning. The rates are higher for all weekends (Fri, Sat & Sun) and bank holidays. It would be worth familiarising your route with the Satellite maps and/or to phone ahead for the local route before arrival. If you make a mistake, there’s no turning round. You need to test your spot if you need mobile / internet. Most spots have neither. If you find a clearing between the trees you will pick up an 02 Mobile signal. We found the best place was beside the entrance. The internet at the same spot will however be very slow, but at least you’ll have one, and works with a 3G Dongle. There is no EE phone signal anywhere in the field. TV reception poor – picture breaking up even with a large aerial. The best signal is from the Mendip transmitter, but you will need a better aerial than the standard roof mounted caravan one.

Comment from The Club

Many thanks for your review.  The CL owners have been in touch as they want to address your concerns as they make every effort to ensure people have the best possible time at their site.  They are sorry to hear that you had some issues with the electricity supply tripping.  The amperage supply on their site is 16 amps and no one else has reported any issues.  Please refer to page 651 of the Sites Directory and Handbook for some useful information on Appliance Current Consumption in Amperes and our Technical Department will also be able to help further by calling  01342 336611.   Regarding the pricing structure many of our CLs charge a higher rate for weekend stays and this is clearly shown on the website and in the handbook.  I hope this helps to address some of your concerns and thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

Canal side setting

We spent a weekend here a couple of weeks ago and would thoroughly recommend the site. The grass is well kept and the facilities are very good. The site is quiet and secluded. Access to the canal is excellent. We cycled to Sharpness along the canal path and also down to the river at Arlingham. The pretty village of Frampton with its 2 pubs and tea room is a short stroll away. Hope to visit again soon.
