Ease of arrival/welcome

A fabulous little site

Stayed 3 nights in freezing cold weather but a lovely warm welcome from the landlady/owner on arrival, and indeed every time we met. Huge gravel pitches with own water and electricity, enabling you to pitch your unit for the best view. Added bonus is the pub food and ambience. We had a fabulous meal Saturday night and drinks in front of a roaring log fire another night. Mickleton is easily accessible from the A1 and within a few miles of some lovely places. We went to Barnard Castle and Bowes Museum for the Christmas market (south of Mickleton) and also had a walk from Low Force to High Force waterfalls, north of Mickleton with parking at Bowlees Visitor Centre, or car park next to High Force Hotel if preferred, with a 2 mile, easy riverside walk between them. A short but lovely stay at this site. We shall return.
