Stayed overnight returning from Scotland. Very clean and well looked after site, set amongst trees with hard standing and grass areas. A short distance from motorway so expect some traffic noise. Arrived at 2pm so plenty of time to visit Gretna Green experience to discover the history of eloping couples and cross border marriage.( Dog friendly). Gretna also has a designer outlet complex if retail therapy is your thing.
Perfect stop over
Stayed one night and it was perfect to stop over en route to Scotland. Convenient and easy access directly from Gretna Services road both north and south. Very tidy and well set up site. We chose the non-EHU pitch as only there one night and worked perfectly. Will definitely use again.
lovely
very clean and tidy site ideal stop off point close to motorway yet vey quiet, lovely views, couple of miles from gretna green , will defo use again
Convenient CL
A nice welcome by David and his dog and we were allocated a pitch with EHU. He did say he was expecting 2 other guests so we needed to use a pitch nearer the A74(M) which can be heard, but it is a constant noise so does not disturb too much.
When we awoke next morning no other guests had arrived. I do hope they contacted the owner as he may have turned down others. Perhaps we need to give our membership number when we reserve a pitch without having to pay a deposit.
Very convenient for Gretna Green Blacksmiths shop and the Caledonian Outlet centre with good parking for mootorhomes at both.
A bit tricky to find but a very nice little site. There is constant noise from M74 which might bother some (not me)
The instructions for finding The Haven are probably OK but it is a bit odd as you have to go into Gretna services exit and then basically go into a small side road that looks like no entry! Next time I'll know...
Nice level pitches on hardstanding and 3 have EHU. I struggled to get elec but suspect I should have turned the grey knob...however it wasn't crucial and I didn't want to disturb the owner again. Next time I'll know...
Very freindly man and we had a good chat about local-ish issues. Didn't use the water or waste. I'm sure i will be back as very convenient just off the M74, which yes you can hear almost all the time, however, I actually had one of the best nights sleep in ages!
Good for a stopover
We stayed for one night on a trip to Scotland. Nice site, a good welcome and for the price it was great… but be prepared for the road noise…
Ideal overnight stop
Just a 2 minutes drive or few minutes walk from the A74(M) service area near Gretna Green, the site is a good stopover point travelling North or South, whether or not you need the Service area facilities.
The Haven is easy to access, well laid out, tidy, reasonably level, 3 EHU, 2 non-electric pitches and despite only booking at the last minute, the owner responded promptly and emailed a helpful site map and dog-walking route.
Given proximity to the motorway there is traffic noise throughout the night but we didn’t find it too intrusive and slept like logs!.
Convenient overnight stop
This new CL is very handily sited just off the motorway using the Gretna Services to access so all the facilities of the services are available nearby. Info was emailed beforehand along with a map for a dog walk via footpaths and country lanes to the famous Blacksmiths in Gretna where we sat and had a coffee watching the weddings. The five hard standing pitches were all pretty level and three had EHU. The downside of the location is of course the road noise, but the convenience of breaking up a long journey without travelling too far out of my way outweighed this and it really didn’t bother me very much.
