A basic site but close to the canal and several places to eat and drink

Stayed September 2019. Having just bought our motorhome we wanted somewhere close to try it out. This is a basic site with just water and a a place to get rid of waste. The site is fairly level and there are some trees for shade, be careful when you come of the entry track as there a few dips. The lady that owns the site is lovely and when we were there she came along and collected the payment, not sure this would happen now in Covid times :( The field is next to the canal but does not have direct access. To walk along the canal you need to go through the back of the pub car park which is next to the field. Stoke Bruerne is a lovely village with a couple of pub and the walks either way on the canal are lovely.

Relaxing weekend

This site is peaceful despite being beside a road. The ease of access to the canal provides plenty of opportunities for walking and there is also the Northamptonshire Round to explore. The local blacksmith, Bob Nightingale, has a workshop on the canal side that is a really interesting place to visit, where it is possible to purchase a variety of items. We bought two beautiful coat hooks and the candlesticks are also very reasonably priced, ideal for gifts. Bob is also a really interesting person to talk to. There is a canal museum, cafe and shop plus a stained glass workshop also within easy walking distance. Unfortunately the cafe was closed when we visited. Right next door to the site is the pub which is bright and cheerful, it also serves breakfast every morning. We would definitely visit again.

Lovely site

stayed at the end of August 2017. We are in a motorhome and originally planned to stop at the Navigation overnight (Brit Stops) but their carpark was rather crowded and we spotted this CL next door. Luckily the owner was mowing the grass so we asked if we could stay and he said OK. £9 without hookup. Lovely peaceful field with horses next door - someone left a gate open and the next morning they were in the field with us which was quite a laugh. The area is so pretty being on the side of the canal. Believe that it is possible to cycle along the canal but do not know how far as we were only there overnight. Had a really lovely meal in the Navigation (2 sirloin steak dinners & a bottle of wine for £20). Definitely worth a stop.

Lovely site

We used this site as a stopover for one night en route from Scotland but it really deserves a longer visit. Very neat and tidy, with a lovely outlook and a very pretty village location. We had a nice, reasonably priced meal in the pub next door, which overlooks the canal with it's colourfull narrowboats. We noticed a little bit of early morning road noise but we didn't find it a problem. We hope to return for a longer stay.

EASE OF USE

Lovely clean and tidy site.  We visit local relatives 2 or 3 times a year and always stay on this site.  Never a problem.  In fact, going again today !

Recommended Weekend Getaway

Loving this little CL. Well maintained and in a peaceful and pretty village location. A true bonus having two canal side pubs and a very good Indian restaurant next door. No time to explore but the canal side location and museum offer a great weekend getaway

Peaceful few days

Lovely quite peaceful site beside the canal. Two locks nearby so always something to look at, Blissworth Tunnel about 5 minutes walk. Navigation Pub on the doorstep with excellent food at reasonable prices. My only criticism is the entry is too short for reasonable length unit when either entering or leaving it means blocking the road to open or close the gate.

Great spot

As other reviewers have said this CL is in a really great location. Nice walks beside the canal - and the pubs are good and very close. Surrounding countryside is good for cycling. Note that the grid references are not correct - they should read: N 52.14054 W0.91255 and SP74515 49695. The postcode takes you to the wrong place but I don't know the correct one. However the written directions are perfect.

Great Location

Stopped on the rally site several times but just returned from a great weekend On the CL.  The site is well kept and the owner very friendly. Short walk up to the locks where there are 2 great pubs, you can easily sit for hours watching the boats pass by with a drink in hand. The local Indian searves great well presented dishes with 1st class service. Great walks along the towpath and lots of geocaches too.  Well worth a visit.

Great CL

Been visiting this CL for a number of years, great location with nice walks by the canal, has an added bonus of a very good Indian restaurant very close by. Basic facilities but level field, short grass with water and disposal point.
