weekend break
Long weekend break
Will be a super site
2013 summer holiday
We try to book sites with minimum of 0.75 acres as we have a large dog and we want him out of the way so not to bother other users. Having 9 pitches in the 0.75 acres instead of the 5 allowed under a CL licence reduces the pitch size somewhat. Fortunately when we arrived there were only two other vans on site, both awaiting the arrival of owners a few days hence. We were offered a 'private' all grass pitch at the end of the site which was perfect for us. The book offered laundry facilities, but turned out these were for the use of guests to the rental cottages, but as we were staying 10 nights the owners kindly agreed to the use of for a donation to kids pocket money. When the weekend arrived, site soon filled up to capacity, ie 9 vans. The weather was extremely hot and inevitably brought out the party goers. At first we thought it was some of the new arrivals, but turned out to be owners throwing a pool party which went on beyond midnight. I would not have liked to have been on one of the main pitches. The chickens were a problem as at one stage we had about six of them pestering the dog, which kept us on our toes as he would kill and eat, given the chance. The wiff mentioned below comes from the dyke surrounding the site, these are prevalent all around Lincolnshire. There is another toilet/shower under development, and as the site is being marketed as a Touring Park, doubt it will be a licensed as a CL for much longer. If you're happy with a small commercial site, then this could be for you as there was a warm welcome and close to all the attractions. Site is very well maintained, with 5 excellent hard standing pitches. However, if you're looking for the tranquility of a CL then there are other CLs in the area which may suit better.
one last point, site is only 3.1 miles from the A158 junction, not the 4 mentioned in the directions
Description could be better
Hi, when we visited here there was 9 caravans and 33 people on this 5 van site including an extending family of 8 people. Yes it was a bank holiday but its a CL so a 5 van site. There is chickens roaming the site so some pooing on pitches one had got into our front locker. The description states showers there is not there is a wetroom toilet, shower and loo no heating in there. On there own website it states each pitch has its own electric and water But it doesnt it just has electric and waterpoint in middle of CL. The owners had a old Alsatian guard dog on a chain if he's still there that does bark suppose does his job. We got a wiff everyday of sewage we was on the far right hard standing pitch. This maybe because the site has like a dam/moat behind the hedge that surrounds the CL. The shower is 50p each so if there's 4 of you that's another £2.00 on your daily rate just remember this when booking. Prices are £12 just for van and electric, then £2.00 for your awning there's £14.00 a night , then 50p young child up to 12 and £1.00 over 12 then your shower money per day. So a family of 4 with awning 2 young kids including showers could be £16.00 including your own showers. Don't get me wrong it's a pretty site with nice views and good pitches but it could be better by sticking to the 5 van rule, stating roaming chickens, 1 wetroom with a 50p charge per shower.
