Lovely new owners for excellent CL

We have stayed at this picturesque, quiet, adult only CL many many times in the past under the previous owners and have always enjoyed our stay. We wondered what we would find with the new owners Andy and Angie who took over The Meadows a few months before our arrival and what a warm welcome we received. Andy told us which pitch we were on and asked us if we needed to be shown round the site, we told him that as we had been there before there was no need, so he left us to set up our unit. He passed by later and asked if all was well. Andy had obviously been very busy in the few months he had been there, working hard, enhancing the grounds for all to enjoy. As with the last two reviews everything that you need for a quiet break is here, we would just like to add locally there is a convenience store and a fish and chip shop, both within walking distance and a short drive away in Stowmarket or Bury St. Edmunds there are the usual supermarkets and shops available, along with several pubs and restaurants serving excellent food at reasonable prices for those who wish to eat out. The new owners Andy and Angie were very friendly and made a fuss of our dog when we were taking her for a walk or just sitting by the beautiful lake. We cannot understand how anyone could not enjoy their stay at The Meadows. On our departure Andy and Angie came to say goodbye and wish us a safe journey and we will definitely be returning to this lovely CL and the great new owners and in our opinion with over 40 years’ caravanning experience, this should be awarded CL of the year.

The Best Ever

We have just returned today from a one week break on this site. There are several sites in this area and why I chose this one I don't know, all I can say is I'm pleased I did. It is one of the best cl's we have stayed on in nearly 30 years of caravanning. Just before I go on with my review I will say I have read the third review down and agree totally with Delica below. I will reply to that when I have sent this. There are two sides to every story The owners, Andy and Angie are new to the cl business but believe me they are so friendly and helpful they couldn't fail to make you welcome. That is their objective. After the warm welcome Andy showed us to our pitch, No 3. It was so big, as were the others. He said we could pitch which way we wanted which is a lot more flexible than most of the other cl's. We chose to pitch facing the very picturesque pond. Fishing is available for caravanners only.  At one end of the pond there is a summerhouse which you can use and dotted around are picnic tables to sit and while away some time. The rest of the "family garden" is open to walk around and it was very impressive. The "Club House" as Andy calls it is a large converted barn type building constructed not just for the owners but also the for caravanners use. Very warmly done out with sofa and chairs, dining table and Sky television (bbc 1 & 2 not available on freeview  on the cl) At the other end there is the owners full size snooker table and dart board which is free to use. Separating the two is a wall unit full of DVDs and books for your use. There is also complimentary tea & coffee.  These extras are more than anyone can expect from a cl but they are there and have been generously given over to members use. On the end of this building is a toilet, a washing up room and also there is a full size shower facility with shower, toilet and washbasin. All in all these facilities and the friendliness of the owners make this in my opinion an outstanding cl. There is very poor mobile phone signal but this is not just the cl it is throughout the village as is BBC reception.  A cl which is a haven of peace and quiet.

A fantastic CL!!!!

We stayed at this CL during July 2015. Our experience was a peaceful, scenic site. The owners were fantastic, very friendly and welcoming. I couldn't believe the last review written about this CL. Try it for yourself. It is one of the best CL's we have been to and you will find the owners very pleasant, wanting you to enjoy your stay.

BEWARE NOT GOOD !!

This CL is under new ownership and the previous reviews are from the previous owner.. The new owners who have been in occupation for 3 months are not the usual welcoming owners that we as club members have come to acknowledge. We were shown to pitch no 3 having been told previously that we were on pitch no 4 when we viewed the pitch we can see why the other club members decided to pitch on no 4 This pitch 3 was in a state and there was just one flat section that was usable, and we were told not to use that part, but having moved the caravan around several areas, the only place was by the section we had been told not to pitch on. So we thought that we would pitch up just to the side of this bit. The new owner turned up as we were dropping the first steady. WE were told very rudely to move our van from that area otherwise he would spray us the caravan and the car with 500 gallons of water from the lake.(no not a joke) We requested if we could reposition to pitch no 2 which was with all the others vacant, but were informed NO that would spoil our arrangements.. With that we hooked up the caravan and left ( not a nice experience.) One other point the site has no mobile or tv signal WE went to another very friendly helpful site highly recommended at The Bungalow Farm at Hintlesham.

Peaceful & relaxing

Very peaceful and relaxing, close to village shop, 20 mins drive to Bury St Edmunds for supermarkets. Bury is a lovely old Market Town, with markets on Wed and Sat. The Abbey Gardens are beautiful when seen in full colour in the Summer. Good choice of Cafe and Restaurants to suit every purse.

Lovely, lovely site!

We've just enjoyed a week at this beautiful site, lovely surroundings, grass walks around the lakes, a very good situation for exploring the area, and the facilities were very good, over and above what you might normally expect at a 5CL. We can also recommend the eggs from the owner's hens! Would definitely visit again!

One of the best

Just returned from 3 nights midweek.Owners were away but were met by Stuart and his wife Jean who were the most helpful and friendly couple. The facilities here are first class. Local Londis shop 4mins walk and fish and chip shop a further 2 mins. Pub 2mins away only does food thurs to sun but reported to be good. Wyken Hall vineyards cafe 7mins away serves the best eggs benedict ever at £7.95 place packed and i could see why. Langham church set in middle of a field is a great walk along footpaths and the nursery in grounds worth a look. The setting in the walled garden lovely. Will go again.

What a cracker!

This is the best CL we have come across so far and we have been caravanning since 1971. Mr and Mrs Largent have every right to be immensely proud of what they have created here. Not only does the CL boast a wonderful setting with a lake, trees, acres of space and an abundance of wildlife but it also has tremendous facilities. How many CLs have a shower, toilets, washing up room and a spacious TV room with full-sized snooker table as well as the usual basics including electricity? The only unfortunate aspect for us was the lack of a mobile phone signal on site - not much Eddie can do about this! We have just returned from 8 nights on this site - our first visit - but we shall most definitely be there again in future.

Lovely first break.

After being away from caravanning for 30 years we picked this site as our first outing. We were not disappointed, Eddie and Maureen were both on site to welcome us.the site was well maintained, there was a mixture of wildlife, mummy duck with13 babies, rabbits, even a baby doe. Plenty of fish in the lake.we really enjoyed our stay and will certainly be visiting again..

A wet one

This is a beautiful site with reasonably good facilities, and wonderful wildlife. Very peaceful and we were greeted efficiently by the owner's friend who kitted us out with the necessary extra extension cable for hook up. The site is very secure. We felt attention to the facilities could be better. Unfortunately the day we left it had rained most of the night, and was raining heavily all day. The site is quite damp and near water and inevitably we had difficulty getting off our pitch, which was the dampest. Eventually we were pulled clear by the owner, who could only be contacted by phoning him as he was not otherwise in evidence, despite the conditions! Rather a soggy end to an otherwise nice stay.
