What a cracker

Just returned from a 3 night stay and must say a big thanks to Ruth on running a beautiful c/like. With stunning views and 4 large hard standing pitches you can't go wrong, as stated by previous members the pitches aren't level but we'll worth it if you carry blocks and a ramp. The waste area is super clean and tidy and being behind the newly installed electric gates felt very secure. thanks again ruth

Gem of a CL!

We spent eight nights here recently and received a lovely warm welcome from Ruth after our journey down from Scotland. The waste and water points were excellent and the best we've ever seen. As others have mentioned the pitches aren't level, but as long as you have levelling ramps, this is not a problem. We chose this site as it was handy for us to visit our motorhome dealer in nearby Awsworth. We can thoroughly recommened this site, Ruth couldn't have been more helpful and we will certainly be back.

Delightful site

The site is just off the A38 and so access is very easy. Whilst the pitches are not level, as long as you have a leveling block with you it is not a problem. Good 16A supply. Ruth was very helpful and we had an enjoyable stay. Just down the road is a Co-Op with petrol station so easy to get things like milk and bread and to fill up with fuel before heading for home.

A great weekend break

In reading this review you have just stumbled upon a little gem of a CL. In many ways we would be better off not writing an honest review for this CL in order that we could keep it to ourselves. A list of our ideal CL check list would read as follows and whether this CL has it:- Convenient location Yes Wonderful views Yes Peace and quiet (a little distant road noise only) Yes Grass and hard standing pitches Yes Good electric hook up supply Yes Well maintained Yes Warm welcome from site owner without interference Yes Dog friendly Yes Dog walk directly from site Yes Spacious pitches Yes Clean new water and waste facilities Yes Easy access for a caravan Yes So unfortunately, nothing to recommend it really. So much so that I'm just about to book our third weekend there this season (we only discovered it in October).

Excellent!!

An easy to access CL with a warm welcome. Hard standings are set angled off the firm roadway, easy to reverse onto. As it is now, levelling blocks are needed both left to right and front to back, the owner tells me they are hoping to address this soon, but it's not a major problem, and once set up, the views are huge. The roadway continues on round to grass pitch options and then circles back to the gateway. Brilliant for wet season caravanning. Facillities are all together and some of the cleanest I have ever used. This is an excellent addition to the CL network all round. A walk back down the driveway to the bus stop, two buses an hour to Belper, Derby or Ripley. Plenty of footpaths from the site or close by. It's all so good!! Yes, there is a little traffic hum from the out of sight A38, but how can I complain about that, I used the road the get to the site. Given half an hour, you don't really notice it. Better that than vehicles passing right next to the CL. Thank you, we will be back.

A great stay!

We spent 3 nights on this site and its a gem of a find.Tucked away, who would know that you were there! Close to local attractions of which there are many, and also in very close proximity. This is a new site and new venture for Ruth and Ian, and they are trying very hard to create a nice place to come too. Talking to Ruth describing what they had to do and the work involved in creating it was great to listen too. What a challenge! They are the first to admit its not perfect and are more than open to suggestions. The site has fantastic views over Amber Valley, Crich stand in the distance and is a lovely vista to wake up too in a morning. The site is on a sloping field and has varying degrees of steepness, but what do expect with the Derbyshire hills. That's what makes it a beautiful place. You will need some form of leveling device on the hard standing pitches as a result, and not so much on the grass if you choose your spot carefully. The usual septic, grey water, and drinking water facilities are brand new and excellent. Being in close proximity to the A38, there is a little traffic noise, but it does not detract from the overall feeling of the place. I will definitely be coming here again....very soon.

Secret Find!

Arrived here over the bank holiday weekend with friends. We received a very warm welcome from the owner, who was happy to point out the local points of interest / eateries etc. Bus stop at the bottom of the drive in case we didn't fancy the car. Elson points are exceptionally clean and easy to access. We did need levelling blocks but boy ...... what a view! Sat outside at night looking at Crich Stand lighting up in the distance. Deffo will be coming again.

Great short stay.

We enjoyed a two night stay on our way to the North York Moors at the end of June. On arrival were met by Ruth and one of her lovely dogs. After a very warm and friendly welcome we were given the choice of pitches. Some of the pitches are uneven and may require levelling blocks. The water, waste water and Elsa emptying points are great and well looked after. There is a supermarket in nearby Ripley, ideal for re-stocking supplies. Access to the site is easy if you follow the directions given. The only issue we found was the almost constant drone of traffic on the nearby A38 which went on into the night. Ruth and Ian are working on a solution to this. This time it was a short stay but hopefully the next one will be for longer.

Just like a CL ought to be

Arrived to a friendly welcome from Mrs Naylor who pointed out where everything was and then left us to get on with things. The water point and waste facilities are immaculate, some of the best that I have encountered on a CL. The views towards Crich are excellent and there is a public footpath that runs from the site where dogs may be exercised. The owners are extremely helpful and there is an added bonus of bus stops right outside the main gate with buses to most local towns. Would happily recommend this site. See if Mrs Naylor will let you make friends with the farm dogs, they might not look it, but they are real softies. Unfortunately our towcar suffered a serious gearbox fault so we had to call on the excellent services of Mayday to recover us back to our home. Otherwise we would have stayed on.
