Ease of arrival/welcome

A very small CL, good facilities and friendly welcome, but road noise

This must be the smallest CL we have ever stayed on, with space for just three outfits. The turn in through the gateway is tight, then a sharp turn is needed through a screen of willow branches. The welcome from Mrs Hartley was very helpful and friendly, and for a site of this size, facilities are very good - there is a very well maintained toilet, and an old stable building where we were invited to store our bikes. The site is not actually a farm, but a bungalow. We really liked Staveley (the Royal Oak is to be recommended for meals), and the whole area has several attractive villages and is ideal for cycling. The main drawback of the site was it is very close to the road, which is surprisingly noisy, largely due to Alfred Hymas hauliers, who are based up the road in Burton Leonard.
