Perfect

Lovely little site in a perfect location. Very close to Manchester and several National Trust properties and fabulous for walkers as there are many walks from the site. Despite the proximity to the major road network the site is very peaceful and picturesque. There is a train station just 5mins away with good links to the city or to further afield. Owners (including the dog and chickens) were friendly. The one down side I would say is the grass looked very boggy so could be a problem in a motorhome although there are three hardstanding pitches. We loved this site , unfortunately we had to leave early due to breakdown butwill definitely return

excellent site

We stayed at this site earlier on this year. Excellent site with nice views. Site owner is very helpful. If you are lucky you might even be able to purchase fresh free range eggs. We would definitely recommend this site.

Lovely site

Very friendly welcome received on our arrival at this well located, easy access to level and very well kept site set in a tranquil location for our 8 night stay. Strines railway station is five minutes away, great for access to Manchester which also makes this a great site to use as a base for any event in Manchester, and there are two friendly pubs in Strines. We shopped at nearby Marple which is well served by good quality butchers, bakers, fishmonger, and fruit and veg shops as well as a Coop supermarket (but check with Whitecroft Farm for their lovely free range eggs). Maple also has a number of rather nice little tea shops. No distance from the site is stunning countryside, very enjoyable. We will be returning as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

Nice CL

A previous post mentioned the owners dog on the CL but we didn't see this. They have a young chocolate lab which is very friendly and yes, there was poo in the yard but not actually on the site. There was chicken poo but lets be fair, the chickens have gotta go when they gotta go, as have the rabbits on site. The site is easy to find with no access problems and we were told to pitch where we wanted as long as our lead would reach the bollard. There are a few hardstandings but what they are like I don't know but if you like the sun all day then pitch the paddock side of the site, not like us towards the trees which meant we didn't see the early morning sun. The cost is £12 pn +£1 for a awning so no one can moan about that. Just yards up the lane, which only seems to lead to a farm, there is Strines station where trains can be caught to either Sheffield or Manchester. There's a large pond opposite the farm entrance which belongs to the local angling club. They drained and refilled it the week we were there so I expect the fishing will be a bit naff for a few months until all has settled. If I have any complaint then it is the grass, although it had been cut, was still a bit too long especially with the rain we had and having to take the dogs out. Overall though I'd thoroughly recommend the CL. Just a word of warning, TV reception is poor, non existent in our case despite having the latest Status aerial. Pure bliss, no TV for a week.

Spacious site - can recommend

Spacious site with no orderly rows of caravans - can recommend. Well worth the uphill walk to The Fox at Brook bottom! Owner needs to keep his dog off the CL though. Friendly enough, but unsupervised will foul site (as we observed). Don't let that put you off though.

Lots of national trust places locall!.The site itself is huge and you can stick your van anywhere they dont mind at all.Chickens run free and the kids love it .fishing is almost on site as there is a big pond close by{small fee}.You always need to book as it is always very busy many pubs close by with great food!! You need to give this a try you wont be unsatisfied.Just the weather you need to keep your fingers crossed for, it is the north west and I am a local so I know ..happy hols
