Lovely weekend stay

Just had another 2 night stay at this lovely peaceful site. As soon as we arrived the owner came to greet us and offer us any help with anything. My husband soon had the caravan pitched up and then it was onto a relaxing weekend doing nothing. The site is so peaceful especially after a hard week at work. The views are magnificent we didnt even need the binoculars to see York Minster it was that clear. The toilets (2) male and female and the shower was always spink and span plus there was a washing machine and dryer if needed plus a large fridge. We were sorry to leave the peace and quiet today but we will be back. The owner was out to see us off and to make sure we had enjoyed our stay. We would definately recommend this site to fellow caravanners. 5 star Chris & Claire

Well worth a visit

We had no trouble finding the site and followed the owner's instructions to the letter. Yes the site is sloping. Having said that the owners are friendly and helpful, blocks are available if you don't have your own. There is a flatish area on site alongside a field, we parked there parallel to the fence. The slope means the long distance views are beautiful, but even at the bottom of the site we estimated we could see for some 40 miles. Site facilities are excellent, a loo, shower, fridge, laundry facilities. Owners couldn't be more helpful and are a mine of local information - where to visit, good places to eat, shop and so on. Site peaceful and secluded. Definitely on our repeat list. Highly recommend this CL

Perfect

Stayed here in our campervan for a couple of nights. Absolute bargain at £10 per night as better facilities than many bigger campsites. Male and female toilets plus separate shower with plenty of hot water. Token lasts approx 8 mins which is generous. All facilities in owners back garden across lane from field but no trouble to access. Approach road is single track but good directions from owners who we sadly didn't meet as they were on holiday. Well looked after by their son though. Site is sloping but easy to sort with levelling blocks. Less sloping nearer to access gate. Overlooks a field of horses and great views beyond. No noise whatsoever overnight but second night it was very windy so we had to batten down the hatches! Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Not exactly my cup of tea

After reading all the good reviews, we decided to give this site a whirl. Sat nav not advised, the printed route to site is more than adequate with a good navigator alongside.    The 'gentle slope' is an understatement, it's quite steep, we chose the flattest part and used half a dozen bricks to get it something like level. This meant when the wind whistled across the open countryside, the van took a pounding. The slope on wet grass was too much for my car, or the mover, we had to get help from the owner's Land Rover. Lots of mud trailing about. Very quiet site though, apart from nearby bird scarers.     The site is in a maze of local unclassified roads, making even maps problematic. An hour to the coast, as said, local village is very nice too.

Best CL site

Having just spent the Easter bank holiday weekend at this beautiful site I must say this is by far the best CL site we have been to. On arrival you are greeted with smiles and friendliness. The facilities are immaculate, easy to locate and not too far from the camping field. The view is second to none, and you are within an easy drive to Helmsley, the white horse, and many more delights that the north York moors has on offer.  We will definitely be coming back, and recommending to friends and family.

Beautiful scenery, great facilities

Have just spent a lovely week on this site. Despite mixed weather had a wonderful time, the site is well situated for visits to the Moors, the coast and of course York and lots, lots more. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The site and the facilities are very well maintained. The site is sloping but levelling blocks (usually some bricks around) sort out any problems of that sort. Beautiful views from the field to the south and east, all very peaceful - the occasional farm animal and equipment noise did not spoil it at all. Lovely shower room with a very welcome heater which was excellent in this changeable weather. Altogether an excellent site, if we come back to the Yorkshire Moors again we will certainly try to stay here. n.b. Find site using instructions given, do not use sat nav.

A great CL

Stayed over the easter weekend for booked nights of 4 but ended up staying an extra night because we loved it.Friendly welcome from Mrs Wilson on arrival at the house, pitches are sloping so leveling blocks needed but a few blocks are provided in field by the gate.Shower block is situated at the back of the owners house in a converted out building and was lovely and clean with a small wall heater for the cold days.( 50p a token for around 9mins) separate toilets for male and female again lovely and clean.Fridge, freezer and washing machine available and information leaflets too.Reycling on site and bins kept clean and tidy,CDP also discreetly fenced off near the field.Amazing views and walks around this area.Occassional tractor noise from adjacent farm but this was something we didnt mind.Farmers are very friendly and took time out to show us their herd of cows.Mrs Wilson was also so kind to our children and let them stroke her horses and collect eggs from the chickens.Overall we would stay again, and for a CL with the facilities provided we think its fabulous value for the money.
