Amazing site

Sadly only stayed at this wonderful site for 2 nights before the covid closures but give it 10 out 10 both for its stunning setting and lovely wardens Paul and Linda. Cannot thank them enough for the help they gave us to ease our long journey back to Wales. Looking forward to returning when all this is over.

Peace & Tranquility

We recently stayed here for 4 nights on our tour of Scotland. The location is simply stunning and our pitch was about 30 feet from the Lochside with wonderful views across Loch Naver and Ben Klibreck. It is the ideal location for walking etc. and spotting all sorts of local wildlife (eagles on the hillside and red deer who come down very close to the site some evenings). Paul & Linda, the wardens are extremely friendly and helpful without being obtrusive. They work tirelessly to keep the site clean and tidy and are constantly cleaning up after the sheep on site. They also have some very good suggestions of places to visit if you need any advice. This was our first trip so far north and we were initially a little concerned about the narrow road from Lairg to Altnaharra but we needn't have worried. Although it is a single track road most of the way, the land is quite open so you get to see anything coming in the opposite direction in plenty of time and there are plenty of passing places. Although there is plenty to see around the site we did venture a bit further on a couple of days and had a trip to Cape Wrath on one day and down to Lairg and Loch Shin another. All in all it was well worth the journey and is a lovely site to relax and recharge your batteries.

Wonderful week

A first trip to this site and it delivered on all counts. The beautiful setting, wildlife and extremely good wardens made this site extra special. The laid back feel and slow pace lends itself to a refreshing break. On board facilities are just fine and a swim in the loch is a lovely experience surrounded by the mountains. Enjoy.

Booked 2 nights and stayed 6!

A great site with some fab wardens Paul & Linda. We were going on a wild camping tour of the North of Scotland and wanted to stay somewhere to charge a few things, get water (note treated stream water) and get rid of waste/rubbish and chill for a couple of nights. Ended up staying 6 nights instead and didn’t bother with wild camping, as it was so good. Very much our sort of site. We started with a hook up and then moved to the “eco pitches” where we had a very peaceful/tranquil pitch with unsurpassed views. Had a ready supply of freshly baked cakes from Linda and lots of friendly banter with Paul. Hoping to be back later in the year when we have some free time.

Fantastic!!!!

My husband and I with our wee dog stayed here for 4 nights. Upon arrival Paul, the warden came to greet us and even give Bobby, our dog, treats!!!! He showed us our pitch and gave us general information about the site, he was so accommodating and really helpful and he has a lovely sense of humour. The site and our pitch were perfect....what an amazing place, so peaceful and quiet, beautiful location. The site was spotlessly clean and tidy. The wardens certainly looked after the site, going above and beyond the call of duty. We will definitely be back and for longer....cannot wait to return. Thanks Paul and Mrs Paul.

Peace and quiet

Spent 3 days on this site a few weeks ago and was amazed at how peaceful it was. The wardens were very helpful and informative. This site is a joy if you can do without television, internet and mobile phone as there is nothing. There is however a lot of wildlife with fantastic walks and cycle runs. We will definitely return for a longer stay. A true gem in the Caravan Club Network.

Getting Away From it.....

Easter break included 4 nights at Alnaharra and walking / cycling in the surrounding area. Well managed site with friendly and helpful wardens. Excellent views all round and an abundance of wildlife including deer and birds of prey all visible from the comfort of the motorhome or on strolls up on to the hill at the back of the site.Would thoroughly recommend this location if you just want to "switch off" for a few days.

Dream come true

Friendly, welcoming and helpfull wardens (John and Deborah). Fantasticly unique site. No lawn mowing - just sheep and red deer grazing the site - paradise. Now that we have a decent shower in our caravan we will be back - no showers on site.

What a gem of a site

Stayed here in July. Great site by a fresh water loch. Very peaceful with superb views. Saw wild red deer across the quiet road from the site every evening in groups of up to 20. Went out on loch in our kayak and easy paddling to explore- even came across a slow worm swimming which is a first for us. Fly fished from shore. Stewards were lovely, a friendly welcome. Little shop with a few essentials (homemade scones and cream tea lovely). Nice touch is a herb garden for campers to use, which we did. A minimum facility site but we were aware of that and with our on board facilities this was not an issue. We’ll definitely revisit.
