Just Don't Pitch Near The Caravan Wash Bay

We stayed at Ashridge Farm for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend. This is our third visit to this site and were looking forward to another peaceful weekend away. On arrival, we had the choice of hard standing or a grass pitch, this time we opted for a grass pitch because the weather was glorious and from past experience, getting pegs into the ground on the hard standing pitches is a bit of a nightmare. The first couple of days was great, it was nice and peaceful and spent we nearly all of our time sat out in the sunshine. It wasn't until the day before we were due to leave that things took a bit of a downhill turn. Again we were sat outside reading in the sunshine when someone the other side of the hedge behind our pitch started to hose down their caravan in the storage yard. The noise was awful and an hour and a half later, he was still at it. When the breeze picked up, it meant we were also getting wet as the water spray was blown in our direction. I tried to get the chaps attention but he either couldn't hear me over the noise of the jet spray on the caravan or was ignorantly ignoring me. I decided to speak to reception to be told that it is in fact a wash down bay and was told that there is nothing that they could do about it. The storage yard at this site is large so why on earth would you put a wash down bay backing onto site holiday pitches? I was offered the option to move but that wasn't ideal as we had everything set up. We were not advised on arrival that there was a wash down bay there and it wasn't shown on the site map either. Anyhow, about 15 minutes later the chap washing his van had finished and then appeared to move his van away from the area. Peace at last we thought .... until another caravan owner moved another vehicle onto the bay and proceeded to wash it down. Haven't people got anything better to do on a lovely bank holiday weekend? At this point we gave up on the peace and quiet and took a walk to the local pub. To be honest, this experience has put us off visiting this site again, it really ruined the weekend for us.

We were very sad to see the tree line had been decimated along the boundary of the storage facility when we last visited the site.

The trees provided a screen against the view of the caravans in storage and any activities being carried out in the compound.

It would have been better if the Club had just thinned and topped out the trees as the whole feeling on that side of the site has changed significantly. I wonder why such drastic action was taken?

What you have experienced, many other guests are sure to do so as well.......the Club need to install some time of screening around the wash bay!
