Welcoming site.

This was our first visit to Blackshaw Moor and only our second to a Club Site. We loved the warm and personal welcome and the help and advice of the warden about finding a pitch. We arrived to have a choice of only 2 pitches, but were able to move the following day to one that suited us better. We loved the little personal touches, the floral arrangements, the information plaques about the site's history, the pizza van that turned up on Thursday and saved us having to cook, and the facilities were spotless. The site feels surprisingly peaceful considering the proximity of the road. The only disappointing thing for us was that we could not put up our dog garden/windbreak arrangement. We'd read that steel ground pegs are needed but thought our steel tipped poles would be adequate. They weren't. If you want to put up a windbreak or dog garden, you need a self supporting one here. We walked to Hen Cloud on a very hot day. Had it been cooler we'd have explored further, but it's well worth the walk. We also walked to the reservoir, the walks around it are lovely, but it's a long slog down there and back on foot, on a hot day. Did I mention the heat? The weather was amazing! Lots to do and see in the area, We had a lovely stay.
