Peaceful site in excellent location

Beautifully peaceful site in an excellent location. Located by the Strid Wood Tea Room and Car Park, you can access the estate and woods directly from site. Lots to do and see in the area. Loved the location for our children to visit Bolton Abbey, the Welly Walk and stepping stones, however the site was almost so peaceful I felt it was more suited to couples.

Fantastic welcome and support from the Wardens

Really helpful, kind and welcoming warden got our stay last week off to the best start. Beautiful setting, lovely pitch, perfect for enjoying the birds, squirrels and rabbits playing. Facilities clean and site well maintained. Cannot wait to return for another visit. Thank you.

Tranquil and Scenic

A well maintained site with extremely hard working wardens who are helpful and attentive. The walks and scenery adjacent to the site are wonderful. Relatively isolated from shops so make sure you are stocked up. The cafe's in the National Trust Forest have very unimaginative menu's so be sure to have provisions for a packed lunch. Mobile Internet and phone coverage is poor. Like a lot of caravan and motorhome sites you are forced into buying their internet to get connected. A great place to visit for a short revitalising break. Will visit again.

A Little Gem

This site is an absolute delight. It's quite a small site, set among trees and it's well manicured. The toilet block is clean but it's quite small, so the sower cubicles are a bit smaller than normal, with no seats in them, so if you're an old duffer like me, you'll have to put your socks on in the van. When we were there, there were kids running around on their bikes and scooters, which we love but if you like quiet, there's a little cul-de-sac at the bottom of the site which it a bit quieter. Just at the back of the site is a riverside walk to Bolton Abbey and the Priory, which is delightful. There are lots of walks in the area, some more challenging than others. I've marked the facilities down a bit, there was a smell around the motorhome point near the toilets, maybe a septic tank or something but other than that it was a really nice break. A couple of things to note, we couldn't get the satellite to work but the lovely people in the reception do a great trade in aerial cables and we couldn't get a phone signal on site but the wifi works well.

Excellent site and amazing wardens

We stayed for 19 nights with our daughter and family. Laurence rang us about a month before we we due to visit offering us pitches 44/45 which were ideal for two outfits together. They were perfect for us with five children. There was a grass area and trees behind us. Laurence and Yvonne were probably the most friendliest wardens we have ever encountered. They worked incredibly hard to keep the site in a pristine condition but always had time to stop and chat. They were lovely with the grandchildren and always had time to talk to them. The site is beautiful and peaceful with lots of lovely walks from the site. It is quite a small site set among the trees. There is an arched bridge to go under on approach road but it is fine. We had bikes on roof of car and it wasn’t a problem. We found lots to do in the area. Steam train is well worth going on but found canal trip very expensive and waste of money. Fish and chips from Bizzy Lizzys in Skipton are lovely and pork pies from butchers in Skipton are well worth trying. Will definitely use this site again.

Nice site

Stay at the site for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The site is well maintained, clean and tidy. The wardens were really helpful especially when I needed to change my pitch (Motor homer went out for the day and didn't leave a sign saying that the pitch was taken). The arch on the way to the site is big enough to get through so dont panic - we have an 8ft wide caravan. Do not come in the other way, the road is far to narrow. We walked to Bolton Abbey and did the circular route back which took around 2.5 hours total which includes going round the Abbey and stopping for an ice cream. Beautiful walk and even saw a Kingfisher!!! Would definitely stay here again.

Many thanks

This is such a lovely well cared for site which we have visited on several occasions over the years. A great location as mentioned in previous reviews. We've just returned from a most enjoyable week here and would like to thank again the most helpful wardens, Laurence and Yvonne, who were so supportive when we had a problem with one of the brakes seizing on our caravan. They couldn't have done any more to help us get safely on our way home. Mayday responded fairly quickly to our call for help but please be aware when calling them that they will require to know - caravan length, width, height and total weight as well as the usual postcode etc.

Disappointed

I booked on line late Sunday afternoon, when I arrived the person in reception was very pleasant and welcoming. He told me there was 3 available pitches, I can't remember the other numbers but I picked pitch 10. A beautiful site, nice clean facilities, all set in woodland with Squirrels and Ducks. Despite my Millenco Quattro levelling ramps I couldn't get my motorhome level, that is what is bugging me, of the 3 pitches available was this the best available? were the other pitches any better? why didn't the warden warn me that the pitch wasn't level? Pitch level is extremely important. We rely upon your wardens for advice on your sites, if we can't trust them how can we trust the our club

Beautiful site

Although our couple of days at Bolton Abbey were wet, this did not distract from the beautiful setting of this site. Staff were pleasant and helpful, facilities were spotless and pitches were well laid out. Wonderful walks from the site along the river to Bolton Abbey. Don't expect to get onto your pitch early, and just be aware of the approach road if towing. Otherwise perfect and we will be returning hopefully with better weather.

Perfect location!

Lovely location for walks to the Strid, Barden Bridge, Bolton Abbey and the village. The wardens were working flat out in high temperatures and did their best to accommodate my last minute booking but only had a ‘non awning pitch’ available. I checked and they said it was was fine to use my canopy as I’m in a motorhome not car/caravan therefore I was able to use the car space for the awning. But for fire reasons I wasn’t allowed to have my small windbreak up running from the back end of my Moho to canopy leg. This seems odd given it remaining well within my pitch. I don’t think these pitches should be charged as highly as those allowing a unit/car/awning ( and windbreaks!) This isn’t the wardens doing though and they were very obliging and understanding that it was 30+ degrees and I needed shade for my dog. All in all I stayed for several days longer than intended as it’s such a beautiful site and such an incredible location. I’d love to return soon.
