Good for families

Please don't lose what made this site so exceptional. Please!!!

As Caravan Club members for some time this was one of the few non-CC sites we used to go to regularly. As an Adults-Only site we loved the peace and tranquility, the dog walks were exceptional and the “Piece de la Resistance” was the wonderful restaurant “Buzzards”. At first we were delighted to see this was now going to be a Caravan Club site. That would be the best of both worlds. But we hope it won’t lose the essence of what attracted us to it in the first place. Namely the Adults-Only environment and most importantly that wonderful restaurant, which now doesn’t even get a mention in the CC website. I sympathise with the members whose bookings were messed up – but please, Caravan Club, don’t lose the basics of what was a truly lovely site. It could be a real Gem of a CC site – but don’t lose what made it so great in the first place.

That was also what was found at Black Knowl, the individual bathrooms were "difficult"and very time consuming compared to the "standard"wink

So depressing.  Our pleasure is at the whim of how fast a warden can clean a bathroom.  Talk about a race to the bottom.  You couldn't make it up frown.

What have bottoms got to do with it apart from the obvious surprised

DD - how much "pleasure" can any one person get from using a toilet/shower? surprisedwink

Given the relatively small amount of time spent in them, I'm normally quite satisfied with the standard of club facilities. Those individual bathrooms (they have them at Ross Park where we stayed last year as well) are all well and good but, of necessity, limited in numbers. So if the club manages to increase the number of showers and decrease any queueing time, surely that's got to be a good thing?

Not sure where that 20% figure comes from? You may well be right, N5, but no one is stopping the "older generation" enjoying this site, surely? I can't imagine it's suddenly going to be overrun with children as it has no play area and is not within walking distance of any beaches as far as I remember.

At the end of the day, the club has invested in a new site to its network, which is surely good news? If there was a good chance of it continuing as a profitable AO site maybe other buyers would have been interested.

I think imho that the amount of money that seems is needed to bring it up to the latest standards, probably put off some comercial operators we are booked to go in july so will see if the locals or the reviews are correct ,cool

As for being an ‘inclusive’ club, when only 20% of members have children, how does stopping the older generation enjoying this site represent equal. They are not helped to their pitch and are not allowed awnings up if seasonal. Many have had to leave or will have to sell their caravans.“

N5, sorry but your logic defies my understanding. No one is stopping older people using this site. What’s this helped to pitch business and who is making people sell their vans? That’s all very odd. It’s a free country and people are at liberty to use a site or not. Similarly, site owners can run a site in any way they choose.

I suspect by that time it will have already been significantly degraded JVB so you may not see it as it was.

When I spoke to the site staff to make a booking they were pulling their hair out  at what a slapdash booking system that the previos owners had ,as she was finding when trying to sort it out ,multiple double bookings, also there was also multiple problems with the  old infrastructure ,that was causing problems for site users, so if it has changed it can only be for the bettersurprised

A privately owned site I use has a number of bath rooms (I the English meaning of a room containing at least a bath) and is spending money on installing more.
