7 Nights 1 May 2019

This was stop 4 on our multi-stop tour from Lincolnshire to Scotland (and back) with 7 nights here after a 3+ hour drive from a stopover at Strathclyde Country Park. I had heard from friends (and read reviews) about this site and they had not exaggerated. It is truly stunning. We could not get our week booking on the non-awning pitches at the front which are right on the loch side but one row back still gave a magnificent view unparalleled by any site visited before. Quite breathtaking. This was our first visit and the wardens were really helpful with directions and suggestions for local walks with good views along the loch. They are a friendly team who keep the facilities spotless and always said hello when passing or gave a cheery wave as they they chugged by on their little orange tractor. A short drive north takes you to Fort William which has a few shops and supermarkets. A small town well worth visiting. A slightly longer but scenic drive to Oban was also very rewarding with lots to see. On the way back to the site we had a picnic at a parking area on the side of Loch Linnhe which gave wonderful views. A total chill out experience! While staying here we saw a red squirrel at the feeders in the woods across the road from the site and on a drive to Lochaline we spotted a sea eagle. Magnificent! Summary: A site that's hard to sum up without ending every sentence with an exclamation mark! Well run, well located and so peaceful. Just beautiful. We will be returning next year.

Hi, really liked your review for Bunree, we are also in Lincolnshire and are doing a tour of Scotland, will not be as long as yours though unfortunately. We are starting off at Strathclyde before moving onto Bunree then off up to Culloden, Calbrinie then either Keilder or Durham to finish.

Do you have any advice or tips, one tip I got was to check where the pertol stations are.

Thanks

You will have no problem getting fuel providing you don’t try to run on the fumes. Nor will you have a problem buying food. Thousands of people live in the areas you mention and they survive. It’s quite civilised up here these days😋

You'll only he scratching the surface but it may inspire you to visit again.

  1. Hi, sorry for the long gap in responding. I have posted a few review but not had a response or question before so not sure what I'm doing. Hope it works. You may well be on your northern journey by now and I think that you got some excellent advice from Tinwheeler. When I started caravanning 13 years ago I wss given the advice of always set off with a full tank of fuel and always stick  to the main roads. My advice for Scotland is plan your routes carefully before travelling, I use the club site planner and check it against my satnav. Can't go wrong with a paper copy though. Currently at Woodhall Spa as s stopp-off to the Sandringham site in the morning, 2 weeks there. Forgot to include at the end of the Bunree review that we went on to Killin, Berwick Seaview and Barnard Castle on the return home. Last bit now, personally found Strathclyde to be a nice site but too much background traffic noise. Thanks for your response.
