Lovely site

Lovely site and views over the loch are terrific but toilet facilities are a bit dated. If you go for a loch side pitch, the downside is you cannot have an awning and you suffer slightly less privacy as everyone walks along the path that runs alongside the loch and back down again and also people need to cross the lochside pitches to get to the path. If this is an issue probably best to get a pitch on the 2nd row back (the pitches are staggered so that they still get a view). Most dog owners I saw were very responsible but there were one or two who let their dogs run off their lead outside the dog walking area. Locals also use the site for dog walking so they may not have been staying on site. Road to Fort William is quite bendy and although limited to 50 mph, during the week its a busy road especially with articulated lorries (so drive with caution). If you cycle - I highly recommend the Fort William to Commando memorial (Spean Bridge) ride along the canal - lovely route with very little traffic. If visiting Steall Falls and you have a motorhome or campervan, be aware that there are several short bridges on the single track road with a 3 ton weight limit on the way to the upper Steall Falls car park. Best to park at the lower falls car park which is just at the part where the road turns to single track. Also, now is a good time to take a trip on the Jacobite train to Mallaig as many hotels etc are still closed so plenty of tickets available.

1st visit & will definitely be back

This was our 1st visit to Bunree & I can see why it gets such good reviews. We were lucky to have a loch side pitch and the view was amazing, it was so peaceful. No queue on arrival only 1 person waiting to sign in which was quick & informed. The wardens are very helpful & answer any questions you may have. The toilet/shower block was open with covid band system in place which worked well & the facilities were very clean Lovely walk to Inchree waterfall about 15 minutes & we took the 2 minute free to foot passengers ferry across to Ardgour Will definitely return to Bunree for a relaxing break with beautiful scenery

Great Experience

Just returned from Bunree our first visit did not disappoint. An excellent location superb views. Toilet/shower Block needs updating nevertheless it was clean and tidy. As dog owners the dog area is some what restricted and they encourage you not to walk between pitches in order to get to it. Having read a previous review about dogs being walked in front of loch side pitches and fouling well firstly there didn’t appear to be an alternative as there was a distinct gravel path to walk on leading to the dog walk and any responsible owner should pick up after there dog. Unfortunately dogs can’t toilet to command and they go when they go. During our stay of 12 days I didn’t witness any dog owner not picking up.

Spectacular views, don't forget your walking boots.

Excellent loch side pitch with absolutely stunning views. Good hill walking from site plus the free foot passenger ferry to Ardgour just a 5 min walk away and well worth the trip (fee applies if taking vehicle across). Queue on arrival at site not so good but maybe people arrive early to 'bag' a Lochside pitch? Toilet block could do with an update. Covid wrist band entry system worked well. So many people with dogs on this site and despite dog walking area the dog owners repeatedly walked their dogs directly in front of Lochside pitches allowing their dog to foul right in front of motorhomes. Not pleasant at all.

Excellent site

Stayed here for three nights, very scenic and quiet location, if you want a pitch by the shore you need to book without awning pitch, also a lot of pitches require a 30m power cable so be aware if your cable is short like mine. Facilities are good, even in Covid times, and the wrist band system works well. Bring a bike, take the Corran ferry for free, a great walk is on the other side at Glen Gour, Take the track up the glen for a couple of miles, then take the style over the fence for a wild soggy pathless traverse of Beinn Leamhain to make a great loop, you will not see a soul up there, Scottish hill walking at its best. Inchee waterfalls well worth a visit, just opposite campsite within walking distance.

Bonnie Bunree!

Spent 4 nights from 19 October 2021. Was a very wet arrival and rained every night we were there, but that did not detract from this fabulous site or the location. I did notice a review about loch side pitches being walked through to get to the loch and the grass being long. My suggestion is if you don't want people walking to the lochside via your pitch, go on one further back, you still get the views! Given the weather leading up to our visit and whilst we were there I would have been amazed if they'd managed to cut the grass as it was very wet and personally we didn't find it a problem. The only problem we encountered was people not adhering to the bracelet system/restricted numbers using the shower block at any one time and just walking in. The site staff were obviously working really hard as usual to keep everything spotless and I would like to say a huge thank you to them as it can't be easy in these times and they put themselves at possible risk to ensure we all have a safe stay. We will be back and until then I hope they continue to stay safe and well.

Lovely site

It's all been said before, super site in a very picturesque part of Scotland, directly on the loch side. Wardens friendly and efficient. Great for Motorhomes as an easy walk to the Corran ferry to explore the West side of Loch Linnhe, and bus stops for trips into Fort William or Glencoe. Tip; go to the Neptune Staircase of locks on the Caledonian canal 3 miles North East of Fort William. Cafe is nice and lovely gift shop. You can get a 2min train journey straight to the locks from Fort William if you don't fancy the walk.

Beautiful

Beautiful site with fantastic views, stayed for 4 nights. We were fortunate to get a loch-side pitch which was great, the down side to that however is the constant stream of people walking through your pitch to get to the loch to see the beautiful sunsets. Whilst I understand everyone wants to see the views, I wouldn’t dream of walking straight through someone’s pitch whilst they are sitting there, to get to it! The dog wasn’t impressed either. The grass was very long and the site in general needs a bit of TLC. We didn’t use the facilities so can’t comment, we did use the Laundry Room and again, people not sticking to rules (one in one out). The area surrounding is breathtaking and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here, the gentlemen who played the bagpipes in the evening was amazing! The staff we encountered were friendly.

Beautiful Site getting a bit 'tatty' around the edges.

One of our very favourite Club sites, right beside Loch Linnhe, lochside pitches are non-awning, which is fine by us. Arrival time has ALWAYS been 12o'clock, and says so in the Site Manual, so arrived at 12.15, (no sign on entry then!). And was asked if I would like to drive away and come back after 1, perplexed I said no thanks, I'll wait. Which we did, not a problem. Had a lovely 12 day stay. Noticed some of the fences and gates etc., getting a bit tatty and broken, the lochside benches were removed and piled up by the Toilets, which we didn't use. Just thought the site was looking a bit uncared for, perhaps the Wardens are busy with all the extra facilities cleaning ? Liked the new lochside gravel path and Rock Armor. Still our favourite site just needs some TLC.

What a view!

Fantastic site. Well maintained and clean. My only negative was the lady who checked us in...not friendly and seemed over her head. The rest of the staff were fantastic. You cannot beat the view. Lots of great places to walk. There is a ferry nearby...walk on traffic is free. Very short ferry ride to more sights. Great stay .
