Away from it all

Live 20 mins. Away from this amazing site, I could be anywhere in the Yorkshire dales ect. It's stunning location, very friendly wardens, spotless facilities, central for many outings, what more could you wish for... A steam train passing the site on a regular basis...well you've got that too. Fabulous

peaceful break

We arrived Friday 27th May for the bank holiday weekend expecting it to be fully booked and noisy. Almost full but still really peaceful. Good clean facilities, friendly wardens, friendly people, lots of dogs but no barking, rabbits, ducks, and the brilliant steam trains. We switched off completely.  Not slept so well in years! Due to health issues we were giving up the motorhome and this was our final trip but now are reconsidering and will hopefully be back soon. Less than an hour from home but really a great place to be.

Good start to caravaning for us.

Very friendly helpful staff and a very well kept site. The East Lancashire railway running alongside was a bonus. We will be returning at some time in the future and we have recommended the site to friends.

Excellent start to caravanning

Assistant Wardens were really helpful and informative. Site was very peaceful and in a lovely location near the East Lancashire steam railway which added an extra feel of being in the countryside. Would wholly recommend this site and was a good start to my new caravanning hobby.

Fabulous pitches

Wardens helpful, excellent hard pitches throughout with 2 lanes all going in the same direction to easily get around the sites. Services pitches were great. Good location and Bury was surprisingly a nice town. Good base for Manchester

Train Spotter Paridise

We do love this site... having first noticed it from the East Lanc Railway, we had to find out the name and location of the site and planned our first visit for last year November 2015. Yes it was raining and yes the temperature had dropped, but we had the most amazing time with our beloved puppy Fudge... The dog walking area provided hours of entertainment for our then five month old puppy, who made plenty of friends, and I discovered the other owner very welcoming and friendly too. The facilities are perfectly clean which is no mean task at such a rainy time of year, with muddy boots and willies using the toilet block and showers... The warden are amazingly friendly and helpful and always made Fudge feel very welcome as he playful wagged his tail to great every person that crossed his path. We visited Bury shopping centre for the morning whilst staying here and managed to fit in some early Christmas shopping and picked up some of the famous 'black pudding' from the market. Spending the rest of the weekend relaxing on the site, chatting with other caravaners and enjoying the passing trains. We enjoyed our time so much we have already booked our return stay for November 2016 when I look forward to our stay again...

5 Star Camping

Burrs Country Park We stayed for 6 nights in April 2016 and found that this site is 5 star. Hard standing with or without servicing points and stacks of room to put up an awning or park your car and trailer. For steam enthusiasts the East Lancs Railway runs alongside the camp site and through the summer you can watch all sorts of engines and diesels passing by.  In the local vicinity, there are plenty of good walks either by the river or local tracks and trails. Plenty of dog walking areas and plenty of bins provided. Local transport will take you to Bury to the market or trams into Manchester. There is plenty of parking around town to enjoy the local shopping and the market.  The site itself is super and the facilities are immaculate. The local pub is The Brown Cow which tends to get busy at weekends and school hols, so, if you want to enjoy their food menu, you might like to book. There is another pub a short distance away which may be more amenable to the younger generation but both are equally good with beer, wines and spirits.  Be aware that the road leading to the Club site is cobblestone for about 400 yards and is not in spectacular state of repair. It will loosen the fillings in your teeth and loose stones and potholes may cause damage for the unwary.  All in all, well worth the visit and the site fees. We're back again in June for 10 days so that should tell you how good it is. Recommended for everything including a warm reception from friendly and helpful staff.

Excellent Site - Route In Rattles Yer Bones!

Just recently had a two night stay on Burrs which was our first visit to this site. This is an excellent site which is deceiving as you approach it (its only 5mins from the centre of Bury!) As usual for the CC, the facilities were up to their usual high standard and the wardens were excellent and very friendly (think the lovely lady said they've only been there about 5 weeks) Got a great pitch facing the East Lancs railway line so spent lots of time doing the 'meerkat' piece and sticking my head up the awning when a steam trains went past. The Country Park is lovely for a walk or cycle, we completed 7 1/2 miles on our bikes although it was still muddy in places due to the time of year. The Activity Centre next door does canoeing if your more adventurous. The Brown Cow Pub which is next to the site is also very friendly and the food is excellent. There's no play area or much to do for kids if you have them so they'll need to entertain themselves when on site. As previous posts have stated, the entrance road into this site is a bit 'nerving' and you definitely need to have your fine china securely fastened as the cobbled section is a definite bone shaker!! As we left at around 2pm on Sunday, the activity centre was extremely busy due to the good weather and there was cars and vans parked everywhere which made it very tight to get out, especially when the owners of the vehicle just stand and stare as you squeeze past. This was not helped by meeting another member coming in as this entire section is single track and they hadn't looked ahead to see me coming out)......he had to test his reversing skills as there was nowhere for me to go!! All in all an excellent site and will not put us off returning, in fact, the wife has booked again for September!

Relaxing break

We spent 3 nights at the site and found it spotless and the wardens really pleasant and helpful. Site near enough to bus stop into Bury centre and the pub on site provides a good service. Would recommend site to anyone, pitches spacious and all hard-standing which with our weather is a bonus.
