Wet break.

Clean, quiet, well laid out site with good toilet facilities. Friendly staff. Being in a campervan and due to heavy persistent rain we were very limited as to what we could do and where we could go.

Winter stay

Another lovely stay.  Must thank Fiona and Ray for a well run site even providing entertainment for us from a caravan club film crew.  We have already booked again for later.

Disappointed, poor attitude.

Booked on for a long weekend Thursday to Sunday to see the flying Scotsman and have a decent break from work. Site is always clean and tidy and have visited several times before. Close to the park and great for dog walking and kids have a ball down by the river.   On sauturday the snow came down heavy and Sunday morning we decided it was unsafe to leave. We asked the warden if we could leave the can and pick it up once the snow had cleared as leaving the site is on cobbles and a few twists and turns.  The response was a very abrupt 'it's not our concern how you get here or how you get home!. I was obviously taken aback by the ladies response to show a little understanding. She then went on to explain if I left the van they would charge me one night pitch fee and one adult. I expressed my disappointment at this stance and complete lack of understanding to be met with a further response stating 'those are the rules'. I was then told that if I left the van I could only leave it unoccupied for 48 hours, I explained I was working away in Scotland so that would be difficult.  The lady just repeated, 'well that's the rules'. I asked if tat was because the site was full? And was told no it wasn't.  I left after apron a further £64 to leave the an for a week, I asked if I could arrange to pick the van up early would they, given the circumstances refund pitch fees, again the 'rules' were quoted stating if I gave 72 hours notice they would refund or I would lose a nights fees. This warden showed no compassion or understanding and was clearly intent on taking as much money off members as possible, whilst hiding behind the 'rules'. I can honestly say having visited this site many times over last 6 years these are the most unfriendly wardens who cannot even pass time of day with members. I am not the only person to gave danced this issue with the snow and others commented on the unfriendly wardens.  I am awaiting response to my complaint from the regional manager.

Very enjoyable

Have visited this site before and always enjoy our stay, we spent five nights recently specificlally to see the Flying Scotsman, as usual spent a very enjoyable weekend seeing the steam trains, the wardens were a lovely couple and worked hard to keep the site clean and tidy. The only downside was the water in the showers, and the radiators in the toilet block were hardly warm, this was on a particularly cold and snowy weekend, we realise the temperature has to be regulated but it was very unpleasant taking a shower.

winter storms !!

just looking at the reviews when I came across someone had written about November and the worst winter storms ,well let me tell you about Boxing day 2015 .yes folks when the M62 was closed due to it collapsing with the rain I was there .so off I goes round via Rochdale into Bury ,nipped into Tesco,s then arrived at the site to have the warden waiting for me as the entrance was flooded ,he said you can get in rest of the site is ok except for 3 pitches but just go steady ,which I did ,found it difficult getting off site to walk my dogs but luckily Sunday was a glorious day and the water had gone so I had quite and adventure with my 2 dogs and my little camper ,not much to say about the site as I go there a lot and have reviewed it several times already ...

Walk in the Park at Burrs

As our favourite caravan club site in the UK, we cannot get enough of Burrs. We try to visit as many times in the year as we can and always get a great welcome from staff at The Brown Cow and Garsdale. Paul and Margaret at the Brown Cow are amazing! Bury town centre is buzzing and the walks around the Country Park are great. Wardens at the site cannot do enough to make our stay enjoyable and it is always clean and well kept. Can't wait for 9/12/15 to book for next year.

Great site

Had a couple of nights at this lovely site in November during the worst winter storms, so we could not enjoy the park as much as on previous visits. However the hard standing pitches were all dry and many were in use. The only issue we have is with dog walking and the expectation that you have to exercise them off site, not in itself a problem but with the distance from the gates of some pitches it is not always possible to get outside the site before the dogs do what comes naturally, and the wardens should recognise this fact. The provision of only one dog bin on a site this size is also a bit of a letdown. Apart from this a very nice site.

FREQUENT VISITOR

We have visited this site several times in our 18 month membership. Each visit we have met different staff/site members and each and everyone of them have been courteous and helpful. My other half toots off into Bury to do his "train thing" and I walk the dogs around the lovely surrounding area. The pub has decent food and the staff at the pub are also lovely. No matter the weather I always find this site relaxing.

Fantastic site

We have been going to this site for a long time now, I think from soon after it opened. It has always been clean and very well maintained, but what has made it even better is the fact that the wardens have changed. The ones that were there for a number of years were rude and obnoxious and no amount of complaints to head office seem to make any difference. Thankfully, the ones that have been there recently are as wardens should be, pleasant and helpful. The ones that are there for the winter season are great. The site is a lovely 30 minute walk through the park into Bury with its fabulous market. There are also local walks from the site and Ramsbottom is not too far. Steam trains run from Bury to Rawtenstall and pass right by the site which is great. There is no play area for children on the site but a small assault course just outside. The Brown Cow is next door and serves good pub food and the staff are really friendly.
