Rural camping near town

A lovely, clean site with excellent facilities. Met at reception and given very clear instructions and a map of the site and allowed to chose our own pitch. Fully serviced pitch with 16 amp electrics and drinking water. Ample motorhome service points around the site. Located next to a country park with many walking trails. Minutes away from shops and easy access to the motorway system. As it is a family site, not ideal for older couples.

An unexpected gem

This is an unexpected gem, tucked down in the leafy Irwell river valley but approached by a 1960s housing estate. A lovely site with lots of interest - the Irwell sculpture walk, post-industrial archaeology, walks through the valley, the steam train line and, only 30 minutes up the road at the Haworth Art Gallery in Accrington, the largest collection of Tiffany glass outside of the USA - who knew? The site itself is very well run, squeaky clean and with lots of choice for different sorts of views from your pitch. Thank you so much for two days of a work-related stay that managed to feel like a holiday.

July trip

Had a very good few days staying at Burrs CP site. Good weather always helps but so does friendly hard working wardens , thanks guys great job. Not the clubs fault but boy its not great riding a bike over those cobbles coning/going to the site whish a cycle path could be made. Like many have posted always a pleasure to see the old steam trains.

Lovely site no need to use your car once you arrive

Lovely clean site. Toilet block well set up during these strange times. However you had to check in the block because people just forget to put the wrist band back in the sterilising pot. Only here for 2 nights and sadly didn't book the train. Nice walk in to Bury about 30 mins, a very large busy town, so it depends on what you're looking for. A few good countryside walks directly from site. Site managers very nice and helpful, will ge back again.

Nice Site ruined by lack of Club Discipline

Very nice, well-laid out site with clean facilities. Although on the edge of a large urban area there are plenty of countryside opportunities within a walk/drive. The East Lancashire Railway runs right past the site and as a rail buff I couldn't have been more pleased to see the ELR Diesel Group offerings powering up and the line. Unfortunately, 2 or 3 'connected' families arrived on the site. It was obvious (despite them being - apparently - 'Members') that they weren't merely on holiday/touring like the rest of us, as a work's van was frequently on and off the site as the (?) husband/father of one of the group left in the morning and came back at night. In the meantime other 'members' could be seen doing major repairs to their motorhomes. Meanwhile, and (apparently) despite several approaches by the Staff the children were allowed to literally run rampant around the site. The toilet block was attacked (toilet paper pulled out, stones put in the Milton buckets), pitch pegs removed, dogs running free (no leashes) and one of the children grabbed my walking stick and pulled it from behind me causing me to stumble. I complained in the Reception, but was told that measures couldn't be taken against these people as that would be seen to be discriminatory! What? It seems to me that the wardens didn't want to be seen to be 'racist'. If it were my children running around feral-style and I drove off in my works van I'm sure the Club would have something to say. We booked for an extra night; we couldn't take any more and packed up our caravan at 7pm leaving early. Won't be going back just in case certain 'families' turn up again......

Nice site for a stop over as well as longer stay

We stayed 2 nights here before heading to the Lake District, fantastic wardens and the site was busy as the Bury Show was on Sunday 27th (we left on the 26th) Our pitch was nice, large and level and the site was extremely clean and well presented. During our stay we walked into Bury (25-30 mins) and shopped at the excellent Bury Fish and Meat Market....a must visit.... Bury is a nice town and the Ice cream parlour at the nearby Farm is also a must do visit and a Jersey milk ice cream enjoyed. And then we come to the gripes.....the usual Speeding on site...which I cannot abide or get why fellow campers cannot get.....and has been also mentioned (not just at Burrs I hasten to add) the wristband system, good as it is....never gets used correctly...I went into use the loo and popped my wristband from bucket to peg....went in and low and behold...it was full...I despair.... The club are doing all they can with this Covid protection for site users....why can't site users also play the game and work with the club and fellow campers.... We'll be back

Few days away

Very nice site , extremely clean and friendly wardens.COVID safe , would be much easier if everybody who uses the toilet & shower facilities follow the guidelines and use the band system in the right way. It looks like the facilities are full when actually they was empty on several occasions , people are not putting the bands back in the pot after use. Pub right outside site which is friendly and serves pub food. Nice walks nearby and 5 min drive into bury centre.

Great Site & good stay

We have visited Burrs several times and usually about twice each year. Just returned from our latest trip for 4 nights, used one of the newer service pitches which was excellent under current COVID conditions. Wardens were superb as usual. My only complaint about this site, which I have contacted CAMC about several times to no avail, are the keypad locks on the toilet blocks. This may seem a trivial issue, but for my wife who is partially sighted these locks are extremely difficult. Previous wardens explained these locks were fitted to prevent none members coming from the nearby park using the facilities. An easy solution would be fit locks which operate using the electronic key used to access the site barriers.

Burrs Country Park

This is our fourth visit here, but our first in two years, and what a difference! The current wardens are just lovely, the ambience is so much more relaxed and friendly, the previous wardens were the most officious I have ever come across. It’s a great location for Manchester (for us visiting relatives), but equally lovely surroundings and good local walks. Great for dogs too with the park next door and morning runs!

Amazing stay 5 star

Stayed here last year and the wardens were less than welcoming!!! New wardens now and the site is fantastic. Dog walking area and now a dog wash area if your dog gets dirty. Little herb garden where you can help yourself to fresh herbs if cooking. Site flowers in full bloom, absolutely beautiful. 4 wardens are an absolute credit to CAMC. Could not be more helpful. Steam trains and old diesels go past on a weekend and the track is right next to the site, great to hear and see when you’re sat outside. Pub next door (very aware of the need to keep the music low in the beer garden, very considerate) which also serves pretty good food and the Burrs Country Park right outside the entrance. Fantastic trip, thank you so much for making us so welcome.
