First visit to Buxton Site

This is a beautiful secluded and well laid out site. Lots of privacy between plots, and sheltered in the base of a disused quarry. Direct access from the camp site to a range of walks including a woodland walk into Buxton. The facilities are clean and well looked after. I only have one disappointment and that is the very low water pressure in the showers. They are just a dribble and you need to lean against the wall to be under the water. This is the only reason the facilities I've given 3 stars and the reason overall it is 4 stars. Everything else is excellent.

First Time Caravaners

Great Site Staff Very Helpful And Friendly Toilets and Shower Block Very Clean Site Very Clean A Credit To The Staff We Had A Great Time In Buxton And On Site Very Peace Full Just What We Needed We Will Be Back But For Longer This Time Just A Trail Run As My Wife Is Disabled To See If She Can Cope With The Caravan And Site It All Went Great

Lovely site

We arrived last Thursday to be met by a friendly warden. We picked our spot ( they are all very spacious) and took in the lovely views of the surrounding cliffs. This is our second visit here but it's still a lovely site. The facilities are always clean and I would highly recommend them. There is the country park just off the site in easy walking distance which is great if you have a hound or just fancy a stroll. The hill upto the park is fairly steep but when you get to the top you have two choices, left or right both are great walks. We will be coming back again next year and I would recommend this site if you like a nice quiet stay in a quite unique area.

Beautiful setting

Friendly helpful staff. Plenty of walks straight off site, easy to walk into Buxton. Had a go on the tombola and won a lovely meal at The Royal Oak in Hurdlow - highly recommended even if its not free!

Beautiful but oldfashioned

We liked our stay in Buxton very much. The surrounding is very nice and there much to see and to do. The toilets and the showers where very clean but they look very oldfashioned. Just if they where not updated since the sixties. Overseas in Europe the campsites are much more modern. We have seen this on all the campsites from the caravanclub. At last the wifi didn't work at the campsite at Buxton.

excellent site

We received a very warm welcome. Friendly staff who were always working to keep the site looking so lovely. Despite the poor weather it was easy to drive in to Buxton and lovely ride to Bakewell. This site is quiet and the showers and wash rooms were very clean. The staff made you feel very welcome.

Good Site

Buxton CC site is in a lovely setting with pitches divided into small areas which is nice. The dog walk nearby is good but up steep hills if you want a long walk. The site in general was good, friendly wardens who were knowledgeable about the area. There is only one toilet block for the whole site which is not very big and in need of refurbishing as it has that well worn tired look but they are kept clean and tidy by the wardens. The site is within walking distance of Buxton which is a lovely town with good amenities and close to many other lovely places in the area.

Excellent site

The wardens were kind, helpful and good-humoured. When we had difficulty manoeuvring our caravan on to the pitch, the warden helped us to unhitch it from the car and manoeuvre it by hand. Beautiful location with lovely surrounding countryside and views.

One of the not so good ones.

Spent 5 nights here beginning of June 2015. There is a ridiculous cattle grid near the entrance of the site which shakes the life out of you every time you go over it no matter how slow you go. It's made from 5" round tubes Not like normal cattle grids. God knows what damage it does to your car and caravan. Some pitches including the one we were on have stupid big boulders opposite the pitch stopping you reversing onto the pitch properly. Not everyone has a motor mover. The toilets were never ready on time after cleaning. The sign said 11.30 but I waited until 11.45 with others several times. There was no apology for delay either. Won't be going back to this one.

Unique & Excellent Site

Decided to have a weekend away and chose Buxton CC site as there is a lot going on in and round this area. The quarry location is quite unique so made for a stay that was a little different. The site was pretty full over the weekend but it didn't feel that way as the pitches are quite spacious. True, mobile phone signal is pretty none existent which can be a good or bad thing for some people. Plenty of walks straight from the site into the nearby country park. We walked up to Solomon's Temple and had a great view from the top in glorious sunshine. If I was picky, I would say that the power from the showers and the toilet flush wasn't up to the usual Club standard and dare I say no piped music !!. I must point out that although we had glorious weather during the day, when we left on Sunday it was heaving with rain. As my wife returned from the office after booking us out she was accompanied by a lady warden holding an umbrella over my wife's head to keep her dry. Now that's what I call customer service with a personal touch, at its best. I don't know her name but she had light coloured hair, you know who you are so a big thank you from the both of us. We plan on returning to this site in the future.
