Good for families

Mud spoiled it but great location

Just spent easter here. The site itself has a fab car park with loads of space and the wardens are nice and friendly.the layout is a bit odd and not very clear as its just one track up to the top and the same down with no one way system like the others we have stayed at.Several times you find yourself having to get out of the way of oncoming outfits. The pitches branch off the main part. it is one big hill and the drainage is terrible once it rains which it had before we got there and again for 24 hours on Friday some of the pitches turn into swamps .We stayed at the top end and one poor family ended up in the middle of a pond. The shower facilities are really good quality but are nearer the bottom so if you are at the top you have a hike to get to the loo or do the washing up it would be better if there were 2 toilet blocks .The main road is gravel but once you go onto the pitches it seems that all the gravel has gone. The pitches have gravel but the road to them hasent so the result is you end up getting muddy everytime you go for a walk. The dog walk was that water logged you couldn't get onto it never mind walk up it.Carsington water itself is great and has a great path all the way round although we were under the impression you could walk out of your van onto the Lake (its a 20 min walk). All in all I suppose it would have been a different story if the weather would have been better and it did brighten up towards the end of the stay. You cant blame anyone for weather but I think the site needs upgrading a little.
