Good for families

Not good for dogs! Too many restrictions

I was really looking forward to my visit to Carsington Water, as had been many years ago. The facilities on the site were up to the usual Club standards, and I even like the idea of a dog shower. I was with 2 other ladies and we had a number of dogs between us. This was where I found a problem, we went onto the dog walk and the sign stated dogs must be on a lead, can understand close to pitches but there were areas where our dogs could have had a run. Understand about livestock being in fields, but dog owners take this into consideration. Thought no more about it until we got down by the lakeside. Everywhere was DOGS ON LEADS. Feel as though other reviews have been a bit misleading when said that it is great for dogs. Wont be coming back, which is a shame as its in a lovely area

Our dog was attacked by another dog  off its lead by the lake at Carsington Water ,so there is a reason for dogs on leads signs as anywhere else the few spoil it for others and as you probably noted there are a lot of dogs in that area,so do not be one of those who "cuts off their nose to spite their face"and not visit again

I think it has all been said. I was at carsington lakeside this year and would not wish your dog to be off lead there. I am not phobic regarding dogs and do like to see well behaved dogs having had two myself.  No idea what is in the field around the dog area.

If the site and area really did not suit you it is wise of you to boycott the area

Thank you for review as I am booked here end of month and it is music to my ears that dogs have to always be on lead. I get fed up day in day out of trying to find walks where dogs have to be on lead due to the times our dogs have been attacked by dogs off lead. I get fed up of people prior to said attack telling me their dog is friendly then scurrying off mumbling oh he/she has never done that before. No care about how injured my dog is, what the vet bills will be or how many behaviourists we have to see to try and sort the issues my dogs then have around other dogs

Keep dogs on leads signs are there for a purpose. We have dogs and never have any problem with this. We have, on more than one occasion, heard owners, when challenged, stating their dog would never "do anything wrong" or, worse yet, "he's just having a bit of fun". The latter was one of those who spoil it for everyone. A herd of deer were being introduced to National Trust parkland nearer the house. Large signs were everywhere explaining this AND requiring dogs to be kept on leads. This particular person let his dog off to run at a resting herd of deer. The effect was very unnerving as dozens of deer scattered. How do owners know their dog will never misbehave? Why take the risk? Friendly dogs are very frightening when they run up to children and non dog type adults alike. Life is too short. Keep your dogs on leads when required and enjoy what you have.

As GandJG said that they are their for a reason, and to be fair, dogs by law should stay on leads. Personally, children use this walk too, and when they are on at least a flexi lead then you can see where they are pooing. Leave them to run around with the amount of dogs you have and their is no way of seeing where they poo. Also meeting someone on the walk with dogs on a lead, do you think it’s fair for you to let yours off. Dogs should only be off the lead when it’s defiantly safe and also away from children and other animals. Less stress the better for everyone and also all animals involved
