"It does what it says on the tin" - fabulous

As new members this is only our second stay on a club site and we were not disappointed. The reviews from previous members were overall very accurate and a good reflection on the site, its location and the facilities. We were warmly welcomed on arrival, directed to our pitch and got on with setting up. We were on one of the new serviced pitches not far from the road, and have got to say were not disturbed in any way with traffic noise. The toilets were immaculate whenever we used them, showers fabulous with good pressure and plenty of hot water. I just wonder why some users of the gents toilets did not always leave the WC’s in the immaculate condition in which they found them giving unnecessary work for the wardens. I wonder what their toilets are like at home. As other reviewers have mentioned the site is close to Castleton village with some lovely pubs and a couple of shops both selling the essential groceries, with one doubling up as a bakery & off-licence, and the other a post office. There are plenty of walks in the vicinity and there are four caverns providing tours to view the areas infamous “Blue John” stone. We visited only one of these (Blue John Cavern) so are not in a position to compare them, but nonetheless it was an interesting tour and good exercise descending 245 steps, climbing the same number back up. Peverill castle is also worth the effort to visit, walking up the steep path if only for the views over the village and further afield to the Hope Valley, Mam Tor and the other high points in the area. We will definitely return
