Very welcoming site

Just returned from a lovely two night stay at this site in Cheddar. As newbies we were slightly nervous but where made to feel very welcome and given excellent advice and recommendations. This is a lovely site, beautifully kept and the facilities were spotless. Excellent location just a short walk into Cheddar with lots of beautiful walking routes. Thank you for a lovely stay we will be back again soon.

Nice site

Site is in ideal place to visit Cheddar, 15m walk to Gorge, shops and restaurants. Sainsbury,s only 10m walk away. Facilities are good and clean, however with no shower curtain, keeping clothes dry during shower is a challenge. Pitch was flat and well maintained, and wardens were welcoming and helpful. TV requires aerial cable but WiFi good. A lovely site, would return

What a good idea!

This is a nice small site with a fantastic location. As you know it really is a short walk into the town of Cheddar, the Gorge and the reservoir. Everywhere very quiet largely because of the Welsh lockdown. The Gorge walk is really worthwhile even in the mist and rain! Try to visit Wells, an amazing City! Just worth a mention, whilst queuing to register and pay, Malc the warden suggested I could pull over and fill up with water. What a time saver, it would be good to provide a service point at arrivals at other sites to avoid driving around looking for the service point before finding a pitch. Enjoy your stay.

Jo and Malc made our stay so welcome.

We arrived at Cheddar site for a 10 night stay having just travelled from Tintagel and Littlehampton sites. On arrival Jo and Malc made us very welcome and were so helpful in answering any queries or information that we needed. During our stay the Covid rules were well managed and Toilet/Shower blocks were kept very clean. Malc had a few friendly chats while around the site during our stay and he very kindly contacted me on return home to say I had left a small item on our pitch, which Jo Very kindly posted to me. We are very happy with the professional way we were cared for and will definitely be back next year.

5 STARS FOR ALL ASPECTS. .  I'm not sure if I ticked all boxes correctly to show this ??

Over and above

Lovely site up to usual CAMC standards. The main reason for this review is to praise Malc and Jo the two wardens, they were very friendly and helpful and worked hard to keep the site clean and tidy but also Covid secure. Jo even took it upon herself to bring our barrier fob to our pitch as she wanted to save me walking, having seen me limping.

Unpleasant booking in experience

Whilst waiting to book in at the reception, a lady used the wrong entrance to get into reception and the warden shouted - yes shouted - at her to use the other entrance. Poor woman - she actually jumped and quickly got in line. Then it was my turn to check in - I got shouted at too for not wearing a mask even though I was wearing my exemption card in full view. The lady warden said to the other warden - she's wearing an exemption card. Never been shouted at by a campsite warden before. This experience completely spoilt my stay to say nothing of having to pick a band out of a bucket of water with bits floating in it before I could use the inadequate showers (cracked tiles and generally didn't look particularly clean unless its where the shower block needs updating). On a more positive note, Cheddar campsite is a pretty site in a fabulous location.

First time/not the last

Had a very pleasant stay, despite Covid, would like to return and explore more . Used our m/h facilities but armbands on showers seemed to work well . A flat and open site with level hard standing and good satellite signal. A short single track entrance road , so don’t arrive early .

Lovely Site

Stayed at Cheddar club site for 10 days in September and thoroughly enjoyed it. Found it very peaceful and relaxing. The football club was adjacent our pitch and caused no great disturbance to us with any of their activities - even an evening football match was no issue.Facilities within the village of CHEDDAR are well documented in other reviews posted on here, though simply to say practically every thing you could need is within a short walk of the site. Ate out a few times and by far the best for both quality of food and service was The Bath Arms, excellent. Managed lots of cycling and away from the main roads was the most beneficial, even so beware of motorists the back lanes etc. Early morning rides in the beautiful hot spell were wonderful. The site itself is typically CAMC standard but is made that bit more special by the most efficient and friendly wardens (Jo and Malcom). A very well managed site to which it will be a pleasure to return..

Excellent location

Perfect location for dog walks and walking to cheddar gorge, Lots of shops, cafes etc all within a 15 to 20 minute walk, which is on a foot path away from the main road, which is great when you have dogs. sainburys is only 10 mins away on foot. Staff are very friendly and give you all the information you need on arrival, without even asking them. Would 100% recommend and we will return

Lovely site when theres no home game.

Our first visit to this site, which is 5 minutes walk from Cheddar town and all of its facilities. The site is quite small, and is in two parts separated by a tall hedge. the first part is basically two straight lines, whereas the second part is more open. This is where we pitched. There are only two wardens on site, who worked hard and kept the site clean. The wristband system was different to where we had come from, Rookesbury, in that you weren't given your own wristband. Instead, 4 wristbands were in a pot of diluted Milton, and you took one when entering the shower block. We found this system worked just as well, and had no problems. We used the facilites early in the morning, and didn't have to queue. Those a little later did though. There isn't a dog walk on site, but the walk from the site is safe, and leads to a lovely grassed area next to the river. It really is nice. The only thing to be aware of is the sites proximity to Cheddar Football Club. On the Friday that were there, the club house was being used for 'music' practice, and was very loud. Afterwards, the local football team took on Wincanton Town, and without fans, you could hear the players effing and jeffing for the full 90 minutes.
