FANTASTIC!

We could not fault this site, Wardens were very welcoming, explained about the facilities and surroundings. Lovely and peaceful, spotlessly clean. easy walking distance of the Village and Gorge. Thanks

Excellent Site, Lovely Wardens

We visited Cheddar at the end of April 2021 just after the site had reopened and while we were still under the Covid restrictions. This is a nice, clean site, well laid out with mostly stone hard standing, although there are also grass pitches. The site is on the edge of Cheddar and just a short walk away from the Gorge. The site wardens were all great. They always had time to chat and gave us some good tips for exploring the area. Our favourite places to eat and drink were the Cheddar Cottage and the White Hart. Brean beach is brilliant for dogs and you can park on the beach. We'll definitely be back in 2022 when everything has reopened. Just a quick tip: If you're approaching from the north on the M5 don't take Junction 21 but 22 and then follow the A38. This avoids Winscombe village which can be tricky with a large caravan or motorhome.

So Good, we went back!

This was our first outing since early Dec 20, and it just so happened, we came back to Cheddar, the last site we had visited. The weather this time was gorgeous, and the campsite had obviously not changed. Covid meaures were in place, however not all members were taking them seriously in the facilities block. Other than that, nice walks into Cheddar, some challenging walks up Jacobs ladder and beyond, some strong Cheddar Cheese purchased and a couple of drinks in the Riverside Inn in the sun. All in all a great stay. See you again soon!

Very welcoming site

Just returned from a lovely two night stay at this site in Cheddar. As newbies we were slightly nervous but where made to feel very welcome and given excellent advice and recommendations. This is a lovely site, beautifully kept and the facilities were spotless. Excellent location just a short walk into Cheddar with lots of beautiful walking routes. Thank you for a lovely stay we will be back again soon.

Nice site

Site is in ideal place to visit Cheddar, 15m walk to Gorge, shops and restaurants. Sainsbury,s only 10m walk away. Facilities are good and clean, however with no shower curtain, keeping clothes dry during shower is a challenge. Pitch was flat and well maintained, and wardens were welcoming and helpful. TV requires aerial cable but WiFi good. A lovely site, would return

What a good idea!

This is a nice small site with a fantastic location. As you know it really is a short walk into the town of Cheddar, the Gorge and the reservoir. Everywhere very quiet largely because of the Welsh lockdown. The Gorge walk is really worthwhile even in the mist and rain! Try to visit Wells, an amazing City! Just worth a mention, whilst queuing to register and pay, Malc the warden suggested I could pull over and fill up with water. What a time saver, it would be good to provide a service point at arrivals at other sites to avoid driving around looking for the service point before finding a pitch. Enjoy your stay.

Jo and Malc made our stay so welcome.

We arrived at Cheddar site for a 10 night stay having just travelled from Tintagel and Littlehampton sites. On arrival Jo and Malc made us very welcome and were so helpful in answering any queries or information that we needed. During our stay the Covid rules were well managed and Toilet/Shower blocks were kept very clean. Malc had a few friendly chats while around the site during our stay and he very kindly contacted me on return home to say I had left a small item on our pitch, which Jo Very kindly posted to me. We are very happy with the professional way we were cared for and will definitely be back next year.

5 STARS FOR ALL ASPECTS. .  I'm not sure if I ticked all boxes correctly to show this ??

Over and above

Lovely site up to usual CAMC standards. The main reason for this review is to praise Malc and Jo the two wardens, they were very friendly and helpful and worked hard to keep the site clean and tidy but also Covid secure. Jo even took it upon herself to bring our barrier fob to our pitch as she wanted to save me walking, having seen me limping.

Unpleasant booking in experience

Whilst waiting to book in at the reception, a lady used the wrong entrance to get into reception and the warden shouted - yes shouted - at her to use the other entrance. Poor woman - she actually jumped and quickly got in line. Then it was my turn to check in - I got shouted at too for not wearing a mask even though I was wearing my exemption card in full view. The lady warden said to the other warden - she's wearing an exemption card. Never been shouted at by a campsite warden before. This experience completely spoilt my stay to say nothing of having to pick a band out of a bucket of water with bits floating in it before I could use the inadequate showers (cracked tiles and generally didn't look particularly clean unless its where the shower block needs updating). On a more positive note, Cheddar campsite is a pretty site in a fabulous location.

First time/not the last

Had a very pleasant stay, despite Covid, would like to return and explore more . Used our m/h facilities but armbands on showers seemed to work well . A flat and open site with level hard standing and good satellite signal. A short single track entrance road , so don’t arrive early .
