Peace & tranquility in a beautiful location

Cheddar Club Campsite
This was yet another return visit for us to one of our favourite Club sites. This site is in a beautiful part of the West Country. Regarding the site itself, the approach roads are easy to navigate, even for large motorhomes/caravans. The warden couple are lovely and friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. There is a small shop in Reception selling some useful items (including ice creams!). The site has one toilet/facilities block which I feel is sufficient for the size of the site, including laundry & dishwashing facilities. Everywhere was clean & in good repair. Pitches were immaculately kept. The site is approx 15-20 minutes walk from the stunning Cheddar Gorge with all its lovely little shops, cafes & pubs. A similar walk in the opposite direction takes us through an industrial estate to a lovely local brewery and a newly-discovered chocolate factory, so no shortage of things to do & places to eat/drink within walking distance. Cheddar reservoir is a short drive/slightly longer walk away too and is a beautiful place to visit. We will definitely be returning here ... again & again!

small and friendly

Cheddar Club Campsite
The site is compact. It is immaculately kept and the wardens are lovely. However, the down side is that the facilities block is small with only 3 showers in the ladies and is pressed when the site is full. There is literally nothing for kids. Whilst dogs are allowed (like all C&MC Sites). dog walking is off site and very limited. The 'dog walk' is about 300 metres from the entrance and consists of a wide strip of grass next to the stream. This is a public area. The road way to it is narrow but does have the occasional car. It is unlit at night. Obviously most dogs don't wait and the small patch of grass just outside the gate gets well used. This isn't very satisfactory. It would be best to say there is no dog walk. there is a pleasant walk into the lower end of Cheddar village, which doesn't have much going for it appearing tired and run down. It does have Sainsburys though and its in walking distance. Walking to the actual Gorge is more of a trek. Can recommend the Rasoi Indian Restaurant who do a delivery service to the site. Would we stay again? probably not.

Cheddar Club Campsite

We love the location and Sandra and Peter the superb wardens. It's so refreshing to find a lovely location along with superb wardens like Sandra and Peter, a lovely caring couple who are very helpful throughout our stays. They are worthy of a Gold or 5 star award.

Excellent site for Cheddar and area

Cheddar Club Campsite
It is an excellent site within easy walking distance of Cheddar Village and Gorge. Also, close to the lovely city of Wells with an astounding cathedral and the bishop's palace. The town of Glastonbury is also close by just a short drive away with its quirky shops. A good area to explore with loads of culture or the seaside within easy distances.
