Lovely Site

Stayed at Cheddar club site for 10 days in September and thoroughly enjoyed it. Found it very peaceful and relaxing. The football club was adjacent our pitch and caused no great disturbance to us with any of their activities - even an evening football match was no issue.Facilities within the village of CHEDDAR are well documented in other reviews posted on here, though simply to say practically every thing you could need is within a short walk of the site. Ate out a few times and by far the best for both quality of food and service was The Bath Arms, excellent. Managed lots of cycling and away from the main roads was the most beneficial, even so beware of motorists the back lanes etc. Early morning rides in the beautiful hot spell were wonderful. The site itself is typically CAMC standard but is made that bit more special by the most efficient and friendly wardens (Jo and Malcom). A very well managed site to which it will be a pleasure to return..

Excellent location

Perfect location for dog walks and walking to cheddar gorge, Lots of shops, cafes etc all within a 15 to 20 minute walk, which is on a foot path away from the main road, which is great when you have dogs. sainburys is only 10 mins away on foot. Staff are very friendly and give you all the information you need on arrival, without even asking them. Would 100% recommend and we will return

Lovely site when theres no home game.

Our first visit to this site, which is 5 minutes walk from Cheddar town and all of its facilities. The site is quite small, and is in two parts separated by a tall hedge. the first part is basically two straight lines, whereas the second part is more open. This is where we pitched. There are only two wardens on site, who worked hard and kept the site clean. The wristband system was different to where we had come from, Rookesbury, in that you weren't given your own wristband. Instead, 4 wristbands were in a pot of diluted Milton, and you took one when entering the shower block. We found this system worked just as well, and had no problems. We used the facilites early in the morning, and didn't have to queue. Those a little later did though. There isn't a dog walk on site, but the walk from the site is safe, and leads to a lovely grassed area next to the river. It really is nice. The only thing to be aware of is the sites proximity to Cheddar Football Club. On the Friday that were there, the club house was being used for 'music' practice, and was very loud. Afterwards, the local football team took on Wincanton Town, and without fans, you could hear the players effing and jeffing for the full 90 minutes.

Just perfect.

Superb site close to the town of Cheddar with the Gorge on the doorstep. I have stayed here quite a few times and never tire of it. Site managers are fantastic and work so hard to keep the site up to scratch. Would recommend to anyone.

Pleasant stay, helpful staff

We enjoyed our first stay at this site. The facilities were spotless, as is usual for all club sites, however we would have liked to see emergency toilet facilities available for when the main blocks were closed for cleaning. The cycle route to Axbridge is very clearly marked but if you would like an easier ride, use the paved route around the reservoir for part of the journey. We can recommend the Almshouse Tea Shop in Axbridge (opposite King John's Hunting Lodge) for delicious cakes and cream teas.

A Gorgous experience

we stayed here as part of our current tour. This is a lovely site in a beautiful location. we walked close to the site and up to the gorge, The local shops were all open and being run with safety first. The site itself is very well run the facilities being spotless and well appointed. Despite the pressures of a large influx on the day we arrived amid Covid restrictions the friendly wardens remained remarkably calm, efficient and cheerful.

Relaxing, helpful and close to amenities

After reviewning recomendations, i selected this site as my first outting. I pre warned I was a newbie and they stayed late to help me book in and get settled. Pitch was level and with electrical hookup. Shower block was very clean with a great water pressure. Supermarket was less than a 10 minute walk away. The location was quiet and easy to get to in the MH. will deffinatnly be booking this site again. I should also point out the local pub Riverside Inn also alowes dogs.

Well located and well run site.

Stayed here 26th-28th Aug, very well located for easy access to Cheddar town and for walks around the Gorge. Very quiet location too for one so central. Very friendly and helpful site staff - we have a large (and heavy) motor-home and were advised to park on hard-standing not grass (our usual preference) due to site ground conditions (it's low level suite near to a stream) . When it rained the next day and we saw why and were so pleased we were not on grass.

A little disappointed

We stayed August bank holiday weekend, following a week of rain to be told there were limited hard stand pitches free. Whilst looking for a pitch we counted 6 hard stand pitches had out of use signs on. During the afternoon/evening other campers were arriving & pitching on these space. It was clear to us that the wardens were reserving pitches for people. Good location. Excellent bike ride along the strawberry trail.

Great Location

Lovely site although limited facilities that could really do with updating. However always clean but be careful of the slippy floor. Site kept lovely, walked the gorge which is easily accessible from the site. Cycled the reservoir and the Strawberry Line, make sure you visit the Thatchers pub to sample the cider. Great butchers and bakers in Cheddar. Thanks
