Good for families

Good clean facilities - shame about some pitches - not value for money.

Cirencester Club site is very well located for easy walking access to the town, and it is a very lovely town. Also all the the Cotswolds has to offer is within easy reach. There is a Saturday morning parkrun a short walk away at Royal Agricultural College (only important to us parkrunners). Facilities blocks are of a good size with plenty of the necessary cubicles and kept clean (at least when we were here). However this is the first time we have ever had to give up trying to pitch our single axle caravan on a pitch that was so sloping we could not safely level our van, even with two of our wooden blocks on top of each other. We had to choose another pitch. The gravel on some of the pitches is poorly maintained with mud showing through the gravel. We were on one of the narrow pitches. There are many comments here about how good the dog walk is for dog owners, therefore why do dog owners permit their dogs to defecate on grass around pitches, even when it is cleared up this is not hygienic. We witnessed this last time we were here and again this time. There was even a new ‘dog pit stop’ across from our pitch yet our neighbour exercised his dogs around the grass behind our pitches. Why is this considered acceptable? This is our sixth site in a trip of almost a month. It has been the most expensive per night, yet the poorest quality pitch we have stayed on. Only two of our stops have been CMC Club sites and we would have to judge all four of the others as far better value and better sites than these (the others were an excellent CCC club site, two excellent CLs and a good CL). CMC club sites are becoming our last choice these days. If it wasn’t for the CLs we would not continue with our membership.

I take it you failed to "advise " your neighbour of the nearest "pit stop" there are two on that site, and some pitches to the right of the first toilets are a bit worn  we found them quite easy to level our C/van

"Why is this considered acceptable?"

It is not considered acceptable. Did you ask your neighbour that question or bring it to the warden's attention? I think all the points raised could benefit from a discussion with the warden.

We witnessed numerous dogs being ‘exercised’ on areas around pitches other than the recognised dog walk or pit stop. It appeared to be an accepted habit. Should individuals really need this pointing out to them? One dog defecated in front of a warden who was using a leaf blower to clear leaves near the toilet block, the owner cleared it up but nothing was said by the warden. Therefore it seems reasonable for us to assume this is an accepted habit. We did raise the issues of the sloping pitch with a warden when notifying them of our pitch number, but was told it had been raised before and there was little they could do about it.

The club accepts that accidents happen and the warden couldn’t prove it wasn’t an accident. I’m sure he would have had words if the dog owner hadn’t cleaned up.

It's a shame you didn’t tell the warden about the habitual offenders walking their dogs around the pitching area.
