Needs updating

Not an ideal site for Motorhome as public transport very limited Nice cycle around lake and pleasant pub across the road Lady warden was very helpful and welcoming Toilets and showers not up to standard and need updating Won’t return as better sites in better locations around Snowdonia Overall disappointing site

Who needs a flight to have perfect relax?

With U.K. foreign travel being very much up in the air at the moment. We decided to take a very much needed week’s leave and travelled to Snowdonia Nation Park. In our minds we had envisioned inclement weather, but the weather really surprised us. Clear sunny and mid 20s for all but two of the days! We arrive much earlier than the acceptable check in time ( we left early and it was a good 6 hour drive) but had been prepared to sit for an hour and eat our packed lunch. The lovely staff said that although check in wasn’t until after 1pm they were a handful of paces already available if we wanted to check in (Thank you very much) Campsite itself was spotless and very busy but never once felt over crowded. We were greeted with a raft of information and outing ideas The amount of things to occupy old and young alike here is unsurpassable. We crammed so much into Thame week from Steam train journey to Beddgelert, walking the coastal path around Porthmadog, the recommended walks from the campsite to the beautiful Black waterfall in one direction and to the Trawsfynydd lake. These were all fantastic and so beautiful but my highlights of the holiday were wild swimming in the waterfall lake (recommended by the wardens), climbing Pyg path and reaching the summit of Snowdon….and finally the Velocity 2 zip line and down hill quarry carting.. You really could ask for a more memorable holiday during these crazy times. We will return!

Lovely site with limited bathroom facilities under covid

This was a lovely site that was well located for both walking and cycling. The staff were friendly and helpful. However the Covid restrictions meant only 2 women could use any washing facilities at a time which was not enough for 90 pitches. Opening the second bathroom block would have been helpful. There were plentiful washing up facilities although confusingly no bins near the sinks for food waste. The poultry farm next door could be noisy at times. The area was pretty and the restaurant opposite the entrance was supposed to be lovely, although we were not organised enough to book ahead.

Fist visit to North Wales for 40years

Spent a week at this site. It was an absolute pleasure, toilet block although seemed dated where immaculate. Site team very helpful and had a smile. There is so much to do locally a week wasn’t long enough. Site on different levels made it seem quite spacious but was full all the time. Bryan arms was less than a stones throw away and an easy stagger back. Nice walk to reservoir for coffee and cake, also walk to waterfall. All in all a very very nice place to relax.

Lovely first visit to this site

Only stayed here for 3 nights, but enjoyed it so much and we will definitely be back! We found the wardens very pleasant and always chatted when we bumped into them. As the previous reviewer pointed out there are a few 'noisy' pitches from the birds in the smallholding opposite the road so best to avoid those if you can? The downside here is that there is only one block of facilities and currently only 2 people allowed in at a time but having said that I never had to wait long for them and hopefully things will open up fully soon anyway and they are slightly dated. We ate at the Bryn Arms literally across the road and the food was lovely so can recommend that. Will we return? Most definitely!

Unpleasant staff and noisy fowl!!

This is a well placed site for visiting Snowdonia. We chose a pitch which unfortunately was across a small lane from a smallholding with many very noisy turkeys, cockerel, guinea fowl and ducks. This made for a less than peaceful stay and early morning calls! We were also unfortunately witness to a female warden being unreasonably verbally antagonistic towards a young man who was waiting to use the toilet block but was threatened by the female warden with potential closure of the toilet block as she was unprepared to accept his word that there was only one other person in the toilet block. When he suggested she go in and check she became more irate and unpleasant. While we appreciate that policing of the covid restrictions is an onerous responsibility, on other sites we have visited, it has been done in a discreet and reasonable manner.

Great site for touring Snowdonia.

Mountains, forests and Great Little Trains. Not much in the way of decent beer but that's not the reason we came so no disappointment there. Pity about the Bryn Arms, it was the site of one of N.Wales' 1st. micro-breweries back in the 90's: not worth visiting now if you like proper craft beer. Otherwise, plenty to do and see if you're prepared to get out and about in the motor but not a lot just walking from the site.

Lovely Site!

We chose this site as I had a trip to Zip World planned. Booking in was easy and the wardens were very pleasant. Although the site was full whilst we there, it didn't feel busy and was very calm and peaceful. We didn't use the toilet block (preferring to use our own facilities) so can't comment on them but the site overall looked cared for. Plenty of walking straight from the site with an easy path down to the lake (about a mile and a half one way). We only had four days but there was no shortage of places to visit in the area and we will definitely be back. Thanks for a great stay.

A Really Lovely Site !

Although our Garmin did not take us straight to this site and we got a bit lost (operator error ! ) the staff called us to check where we were and stayed on site until we had arrived safely they did not take our payment when we arrived being more interested in getting us settled in safely, we were told to call in and pay up before 4pm the next day ! The next day when I did call in to pay up the lovely lady in the site shop gave me detailed information on nice walks with additional tips to help us enjoy the walk, basically we were totally impressed with the site location, the pitches it is perfect and we will be going back. On arrival we noticed a superb Red Dragon fixed at the entrance we have purchased 2 dragons from the web site recommended so an extra 'Thank you' for that

Plenty to see and do

We had a seasonal pitch then 5 nights away at another location then back for a further 10 nights . In all we have visited this site 6 times over the past 5 years. So goes without saying we like it. Of cause though difficult times with Covid regulations. From the start of our holiday when we were given the green light to cross the border into Wales we were self sufficient as the shows/toilets were closed. We decided to remain that way as we thought better all round . The staff on the site were very helpful, pleasant and polite, this made our stay all the more enjoyable. If you like hiking, bike riding and nature this is the place to visit. Definitely be back. Thanks.
