Having read the many reviews we decided on balance to give this site a try,we spent 10 nights 23/12/21 to 2/1/22 on site, first i must say the wardens were very good we don`t go to the office much anywhere we stay as we don`t find much to complain about on sites but out and about on site they always smiled and spoke. I can see what the camper who said worst pitch ever ment and there are now 5no 1 ton bags of stone on this pitch ready for spreading i would not have been happy with this pitch but why was this not done sooner. I realise sites do not look their best in winter and i was told that in summer when the trees are in leaf it looks great. Addressing the issue of workers using this site i must say i agree it resembles at times a Travellers Site one person was on and off every day in a flatbed transit with plallets strapped to it,many pitches resembled seasonal pitches although there are none on this site ??. For dog walking this must be near the top of the list for sites with woods next to site, i think this site really is in need of a makeover, the almost full storage site next door must be bringing in a huge amount of money i was told the charge is £750 per van / motorhome / trailer per year with around 200 to 300 spacers you do the maths. i would suggest the many hunderds of thousands of pounds WASTED changing from Caravan Club to Caravan and Motorhome Club to be more " inclusive " !! could have been better spent.
After all that said we had a quite and peaceful time but these are my thoughts,we may return in summer to see what it looks like then please come and see this site you may not agree.
Kind and helpful warden
The warden went out of her way to help us move pitches even though site was almost full. I have difficulty walking and our pitch was in the far corner. Thank you so much she is a credit to the club.

Worst pitch we have ever been on
We have used this site many times, as it is close to where our daughter and family live.
It’s not one we would choose, except for our family visits, but we have found it just about acceptable for our needs, as we don’t use the facilities.
We tend to use the grass pitches when open, as they offer more space.
Over the last few visits, we have noticed it has become more and more a traveler/ workmen site, with sign written work vehicles on pitches and lots of huge Motorhomes on site, which seem never to move. We always thought sign written vehicles were not allowed but we must be wrong on that one.
Our last visit, was the last straw and we will certainly be not be visiting again.
As earliest arrivals are 1 pm, we arrived exactly at this time, only to be told there was only one pitch left.
It was a disgusting square of mud, supposed to be a hard standing pitch, but had only about a barrow full of pebbles on the whole area and the majority of the pitch that was dangerous and slippy with mud and if we found a small patch without mud it was covered in moss, obviously the pitch been left untouched for years.
I took a number of photos of our mud square and have them all on my phone if anyone doubts it.
At the price we are charged for such a disgusting offering ( we were there for four days) the club should be ashamed to call this a hard standing pitch.
Fortunately we have seen that the camping and caravan club has a site about the same distance from my daughters, so will be joining that club next
I have never before posted a review but have been angered enough to do so.

A pleasant nights stay
We used the site as an overnight stop on our way to North Norfolk the site is well placed just off the A1M so allows quick access to get on the way again in the morning. Very pleasant stay and site was quiet overnight so got a good nights sleep. Good dog walking just outside the site which our two whippets enjoyed! The facilities were very clean with lots of hot water. We choose a pitch on the central green so as to make the most of the afternoon sun. Would use the site again if thinking of spending a couple of days in London or again as a stopover heading north.
Very enjoyable stay
We booked for the location as our Granddaughter”s school is just 6 miles away. We’d stayed once before but mistakenly chose to stay in bottom right hand corner where the sun is lost early. This time we spotted a place on the large central green which was excellent. The pitch was very spacious and we had the advantage of a sunny spot with a great open green before us. The toilets and showers are excellent.
The only noise we experienced was on Saturday night when three fireworks companies competed at the magnificent Hatfield Hall which is very close. Unfortunately we couldn’t see what must have been magnificent displays, but could certainly hear the bangs.
We enjoyed a few trips into Central London, by far the easiest was by train from Hatfield Station which is less than 3 miles away with cheap car parking in the multi storey alongside. The trains are very frequent, we paid only £8 off peak day return for the 30 min trip to Kings Cross.
Welwyn Garden City is a delight, it has a nice shopping centre and an excellent cinema with a bar!
So lots to enjoy. We’ll certainly be back.
Disappointing
This site feels more like a residential park than a CAMC site. The wardens were pleasant and the facilities clean, although tired. The pitches were full of weeds and there is a lot of noise from the cricketers celebrating or commiserating after their game. You can also hear a lot of road noise. But what really marks this site down is what appears to be the number of pitches taken by long term residential outfits. One caravan has a sofa, armchair, dining table and chairs and widescreen TV set up in the awning. There are many large outfits, caravans and motor homes (bus size) which clearly do not move. There was no holiday site vibe. We stayed here whilst visiting family but would not stay again, nor recommend.
Noise
Site looked ok on arrival but is functional and there is no holiday vibe. Facilities clean and showers good. The problem is the adjacent cricket club. Two nights of music were ok because they finished by 10ish and it was indoors, even though could be heard. However, one one night we had some form of outdoor music festival. The noise was extremely loud with heavy bass speakers vibrating the caravan and it was loud enough to hear bad language from the crowd singing along until nearly midnight.
Felt really let down by Caravan Club as they must have known it was happening and did not give anyone any information or warning. Whilst we expected it to stop by 11pm when it didn’t it became quite stressful wondering how long we had to be subjected to it.
Definitely could do better and won’t be back.
In future warnings are needed so people have a choice.
Friendly and helpful wardens
We recently stayed here for 6 nights and were very pleased with the location and cleanliness of the site. The wardens were extremely helpful and it was no problem to add an extra night to our stay at the last minute. It took us 45 minutes to walk to the railway station at Hatfield and catch a fast train to Kings Cross. We hope to visit again soon.

Better than I read!
We had work to do in Borehamwood so chose this as the nearest site. The reviews didn’t fill us with confidence I must say, some where about the wardens or the dog walking options or the standards of others guests. However, I found the site to be very well kept with friendly staff and a peaceful stay. We have a 7.5m motorhome, I think you might just squeeze an 8.5 on but you’d have to be precise!
It’s true the track in the designated dog walk area is very overgrown and narrow so we walked our little muts out of the site and around the local area. A mid or full size dog would probably be fine. It’s a 40 minute walk into the town centre by the way. Department store in the town centre, John Lewis, allows dogs :-)
There are clearly some long termers on site which I don’t see as an issue, but some reviewers did, and some children were noisy and riding bikes around which we don’t see as an issue either, they weren’t up too late up, so lighten up people, you were a kid once too, this is a nice site, with pleasant wardens and good sized mostly level pitches.
Not Ideal For Dogs
This is the second visit to this site, we like the site, facilities and cleanliness. My negativity is the Listed dog walk off site. This is overgrown and unkept and not safe for the dogs to walk on, and when mentioned to owner she had no answer for me. Having already had grass seed removed by operation this is unacceptable, thorns and everything covering the path, and your not allowed to exercise on site, hence the only option is along the streets off site, this site might allow dogs but is not dog friendly!
