The location of this site does make it ideal for exploring the Coniston area and for us the distance of the walk was not a problem. As you would expect the lake does get very busy at weekends especially given how many people can pack into the adjacent Coniston Hall site. Yes the facilities are very well maintained and the whole site is well marshalled but it is just the size of it that would put us off returning. It did feel very claustrophobic although having said that it is very quite at night. Just not for us I'm afraid.
