Woodland paradise

As new members, our first stay on a Club site. Crossways has set the bar high for other sites! How lovely to have small pockets for pitches amongst woodland, rather than regimented rows. A real back to nature experience with sightings of deer, squirrels and other wildlife, birdsong daytime and owls hooting at night. Very environmentally friendly site using dry compost toilets, surprisingly looked just like normal toilets, with no need to flush. Just a few minutes walk to the station for our trip to nearby Dorchester, an interesting town with lots of lovely architecture, river walk, pleasant park (excellent playground for children, though none with us this time!), museums, individual shops and good choice of coffee shops and restaurants /pubs. Local CoOp provided all our supplies at reasonable prices and was a 15 minute walk along the road. Even though we had torrential rain the first 24 hours, the 'grass' site was not waterlogged. Our stay wasn't long enough to take advantage of local walks, bike rides, eating in the nearby Frampton Arms (heard good reports from others about it), or take the train to Weymouth. Great place where you can go sightseeing using public transport, another environmentally friendly tick for the site!
