Overnight stop before Channel tunnel

Lovely location in countryside. Only 25 minutes from tunnel. Would stay there again for more than one night. Wardens friendly and helpful. Small shop sells bacon and eggs etc

short but enjoyable stay

Used the site for a short break with our granddaughter. The site was very clean and well laid out. Staff very professional & helpful. Facilities clean and well maintained. Location well placed for the South coast area, although access via country roads a bit tight,  driven with care no problem. Will use this site again soon.

A big THANK YOU from the first timers!

It's our first caravan, we'd had it a couple of weeks, so wanted somewhere not too far from home for our first outing. We chose Daleacres - whew, great choice!! The staff were lovely - friendly and helpful, explaining it all to us with great patience, and making us feel very welcome. Having camped many years ago, we were very impressed with the cleanliness and facilities in the shower block, and the washing up area was equally good. We met some lovely people on the site, who let us look at their kit to get some ideas, and gave helpful advice. Our tent pegs proved to be only fit for a childs tent, so we learned from the experienced and invested in some you can put in with a drill - so much easier than all that kneeling and banging! The dog walk was great, mown pathways, a great space and lovely views to look at as we walked. Our dog couldn't wait to get back there again...and again...and again! I know now...not to take too much food, they sell great local produce on site; not to take too many books, there's a very cheap book sale area in the reception. It was lovely and quiet, a bit disappointed not to hear the lions but the wind (lots of it that weekend!) was probably in the wrong direction. We had a great time and can't wait for next weekend - just hope the Bognor site is as nice. Yes, there were kids on bikes, but they were kids having a great time - after all, it was school holidays and it's hardly the M25 - let them have fun, the serious stuff comes all too quickly. A huge thanks to the lovely staff and the kind people who gave help and advice or just chatted - we are already looking forward to a return visit.

Great dog walk

this site has one of the best dog walks I have seen . The pub down the road is certainly worth a visit. Now the bad bit I have nothing against children just idiot ones who choose to ignore the speed limit and the one way system, with the number of bikes there it is suprising there has not been a serious injury. My second gripe is the wardens are too lax on enforcing the rules for cyclists.

A 'must visit' site

Just finished yet another trip to Daleacres, nothing much has changed, still very clean and tidy and well maintained. The approach road has got very dodgy just opposite the car workshops after the pub, if you are towing then hang back to let oncoming vehs through as there is a risk of grounding in the ditch. There is a new micropub just opened in the Riverside Industrial site by the canal. Limited opening hours but lovely beer brewed on premises. I don’t post many entries on this website, being a live and let live sort of person, but in view of the three earlier posters I feel I must speak in defence of the 30 or so Seasonal Pitch holders at Daleacres. The ones I have spoken to on a few visits appear to be mainly middle-aged to retired persons (sorry!) and generally are very nice and helpful people especially when it comes to local knowledge. They have paid about £1500 for the ‘privilege’ of leaving their vans there for the season and are amongst the better behaved members, ie they do not speed, they do not cycle the wrong way around the road, they control their children/grandchildren, they leave the toilets clean etc. all of which is more than a fair number of touring members do. The reason they do this is so as not to give anyone cause to criticise them. We will certainly return later this year after the school holidays.

Another great visit on a busy weekend

Managed to get two nights here, a Friday and Saturday. Site was well busy with lots of kids around. Apart from the innocent daftness of young kids making driving difficult, they were seldom heard or seen when we were on site. Parked up in probably the quietest area we've found so far. Facilities were as ever clean and well presented. Relaxation began 5 minutes after we parked. Spent Saturday with a walk to Hythe town (saw the protest march) then the rest of the day on the RH&DR narrow guage railway to Dungeness via New Romney. A rover ticket is £17 per adult - same as a return ticket costs, but you can get out any station on the line and also visit the model railway display at New Romney. Well worth doing the journey. Slept well, but woken at early dawn by the local birdlife, as usual, tap dancing on the roof and tapping theroof vents with their beaks. Also cawing from the rooks, cooing from the doves, calling from the wood pigeons and raucous melodies from the pheasants. We loved it - and the lion roaring in the distance at the wildlife park just made the weekend. Will we be back? Of course - it goes without saying!

nicely laid out site

Returned from a 4 x day stay last week, never been to this site before. I was surprised how nicely laid out this site is with plenty of choices, particularly as it is a school holiday. We are grandparents but were actually on our own (for once). This is a lovely site for kids who ride around the circle of the site on their bikes, it's amazing how they get into a group so quickly & enjoy themselves! The pitch was very spacious, we had hard-standing with plenty of room for an awning with the car on the other side of the caravan. Shower block was very clean & accessible, as was the water & waste water point. The grass is kept well mown & I love the way some of the grass is left slightly longer, with a 'path' of mown grass to walk comfortably on. I especially liked this in the Dog Walk area which was a really good size for dogs to run off lead, but secure so they cannot get out. I don't know why there are negative comments ref this site; as a 1st time visitor, I thought it was lovely and will be back.  nb: it was really nice to walk around the circular road at night: the stars are very visible & a lot of people put lights around their outfits, poles, awnings etc, a lovely sight ;o)

A Nice Site

We have just returned from a short 4 days stay at this site and to make use of the sunshine weather and although quite a few kids being there it was still a good stay.We tend to use this site fairly frequently for short breaks as it being only an hours drive from where we live.Firstly I agree with the comments made about the "semi permanent seasonal pitch residents" .They seem to think they are the authority of the site and their thinking is "if it wasn't,t for us this site would struggle"- RUBBISH. They do make a bit of noise with their loud talking and shouting between their awnings and their somewhat drinking gatherings .I cannot comment on their remarks made about uncut grass under their units as our stay was during the weekdays and the "residents" possibly use the site as their weekend "retreat". We did however witness their antics a few visits ago when we innocently pitched on their patch just to the left of the shower and toilet block.(best avoided". As far as the wardens are concerned they do a splendid job and the facilities are indeed a credit to their efforts. The office sells a few basic items but no longer offer a newspaper booking service due to the low demand. The comments made by the previous item concerning the area are I feel totally inappropriate. This area is renowned to be a seaside "kiss me quick hat"environment with all it has to offer in beaches for everyone to enjoy.Alright it is not the continent but you are not paying continental prices. There are plenty of places interest to visit including Hythe,Rye Port Lymme Zoo and historic Canterbury. The pub within 15 mins walk is very good for food and worth trying. As far as the mobile fish and chip van is concerned ,I cannot comment as we did not use it,but we witnessed quite a few people using it. So all in all Daleacres is a good site to use .
