An Excellent Site

Stayed for a couple of nights at the end of September mainly to see a show in Edinburgh on Saturday evening.Site is excellent.Pitches are big, toilet blocks clean and well maintained and the site itself is very well looked after. Lovely walk along the shore to Cramond and we would recommend a walk out to the island. Aircraft noise not a problem to us,you get used to it during your stay.Regular buses run into the city so really no need to move your car. We bought a £4 daily travel ticket which was really worth the money on Lothian buses. Would totally recommend this excellent club site.

Great site, great staff!

In August, we stayed for 5 nights in order to go to the Edinburgh Fringe and we couldn't have stayed at a better campsite. In particular, Muriel in the office was just so kind and helpful. We had originally only booked for a couple of nights and were due to move to another site half way through the week as there were no hardstanding pitches available for the second half of the week. However, Muriel bent over backwards to accommodate us and we fortunately managed to get a pitch for our entire stay... totally thanks to Muriel's efforts. In fact, we found every member of staff to be welcoming and helpful throughout our visit. The site itself was immaculate - not only were the toilets and showers spotless but the pitches themselves were kept exceptionally neat and tidy, and the grass areas were very well manicured. The fact that the site is on the Edinburgh Airport flightpath didn't pose a problem for us (I notice that the noise is a big gripe for some people - maybe try using ear plugs?). After a 10 minute walk to the bus stop there were also plenty of buses into the city centre. We will definitely stay here again when we next visit the Fringe Festival. Just hope Muriel is still working here!

Excellent site but will not return

I have visited this site many years ago and thought everyone was exaggerating about the aircraft noise. If fact my thoughts were, "it's a city site, what can you expect?" I live near Newcastle upon Tyne so am not immune from aircraft noise at home. This was something else though, Edinburgh airport is obviously a lot more successful than it was 10 years ago and planes are taking off and landing about every 5 minutes until 2.30am then starting again around 6am. The aircraft were so low I could almost wave at the pilots! It is true, the site is wonderful, the location is good and the wardens were helpful but no sleep is a high price to pay for me. I doubt I will be back but if you sleep like a log as soon as your head touches the pillow this is the site for you.

City site aircraft no problem

This is our third visit to this site. If members want complete silence don't visit city sites. Easy access to Edinburgh, day tickets are super value. Staff on site are excellent, both friendly and helpful. Facilities are spotlessly clean and pitches are very generous. My advice to members is check location and if aircraft, road and train noise are an issue for you , then don't book. Super site , been here twice in ten days, and will be back. Well done to all staff.

Nice site shame about the aircraft noise

The site is situated ideally for the coast where there is a lovely esplanade to walk along. The pitches are generous. Toilet blocks are clean and well maintained. The welcome was very friendly with all the wardens being friendly and helpful. The big fly in the ointment is the road noise and the aircraft noise. The site is in the approach path for Edinburgh airport and suffers from aircraft (about every 5 minutes all day) from very early morning until late at night and occasionally over night. Such a shame as it completely spoils the site.

Love this site

We are here at the moment and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The aircraft do not bother us at all.The site is a short bus ride from the centre of Scotland's capital city and nearby busy airport. This is NOT a rural  site and surely you must expect noise from a busy city !!! Looking forward to returning again soon.

VERY NOISY DUE TO AIR TRAFFIC.

Have visited this lovely site in the past. Very well kept and spotless facilities maintained by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Typical Caravan Club Standards. (Even the outside railings are washed down by hand). Lovely walk along Cramond Shore and a nice little cafe/tearoom looking out to the sea. However, due to the increased airtraffic coming in and out of Edinburgh at all hours of day and night (planes were low flying as it is in the flight path for nearby airport), I can sadly say I would not return. I am partially deaf, and it was too noisy even for me. Others I spoke to were of the same opinion. On our last visit 2 years ago, the aircraft noise wasn'thalf as bad.

Little noisy but good overall

We stayed 4 nights, mainly to go to the tattoo(very good) and wander round during the fringe. The site is on a flight path, but after the first day this did not bother us, and there is some road noise but nothing excessive. Site very clean, and close to very pleasant tarmac walk along the banks of the estuary. Very frequent buses run around Edinburgh, with an all day ticket only £4, but the nearest bus stop is a fair trek from the site. On the night we went to the tattoo we parked the car near the bus stop rather than walk the 1/2 mile or so in the dark at near midnight..

Came to see the Fringe

Excellently run site with all the facilities. A bit further out from Edinburgh than we first thought so leave plenty of time to travel by bus. The buses were very frequent but a half mile walk from the campsite and not very pleasant to return after dark as the street is unlit. We were warned that it was on the flight path and the aircraft started early and finished late but after a while you don't seem to notice them. The site full but everything was spotlessly maintained. We came to experience the Fringe and would thoroughly recommend it.

Brilliant escape with my 5 year old boy

This was a great camp site with a little shop, friendly staff and good facilities (shower/toilets etc). The kids play area was also good for my wee adventurer to relax before bed. The location was great with a mini bus taking you to the centre of Edinburgh but we mostly opted for the No. 27 bus which was about 10 mins walk away. This bus also took you to the centre. It was that good and friendly I extended our stay. I will definitely be going back.
