Doggie paradise

Great site for a relaxing weekend, just chill and stroll around the 2 mile 1 furlong dog walk! The loo block is a bit old-fashioned, but so what? The lovely Wardens keep it spotlessly clean. Further to the last review, next to the Route 5 diner is a filling station with a well-stocked Spar shop, ideal for newspapers and it's licensed to sell alcohol. Don't bother with the diner if you're walking the dogs, they're not allowed in and there's no outside seating...

Great base for exploring exter & dartmoor

Open site right in the middle of the race course. There is constant noise from the A38, but it soon fades into the background. Great for dog owners as you can walk the scrub inside the racecourse, or go under the A38 and onto the forest trails. There are also 2 diners within a few hundres meters of the site - the forest diner which is typical cafe/pub food and good value, and the Route 5 American diner which has a huge choice and great atmosphere, but pretty bad service. If you don't want to keep driving off site, there is a bus stop on the A38 in front of the racecourse buildings.

Smashing site but a couple of drawbacks

Brilliant location this with moorland views, dog walks that would be difficult to beat, Haldon Forest Park with its walks, cyclepaths, bike hire, cafe and adventure play a mile away and a good restaurant/diner a short walk away. Its in the middle of Exeter Racecourse too, so if you want to go to the races then this is the place for you. Only downside is the road noise and nothing to protect you from the wind (its very exposed at the top of Telegraph Hill). If that doesn't bother you then go for it!

Stopover site

A nice site, clean facilities but looking tired and in need of an upgrade. It doesn't meet the standards of many other CC sites we have stayed on. There is no wifi, TV aerial point and only a few toilets and showers which was fine for the start of the season but may cause a queue later when busy. The wardens however were really friendly and its a great place for walking dogs. I would love to stay on a race day I bet the atmosphere is electric.
