Good for families

One of our favourites

This is always one of our favourite sites, and our stay this time was as good as ever. Trevor and Sally are excellent wardens, extremely diligent, hard-working and helpful, whilst finding time to chat and be sociable. It's a shame that there are no longer any grass pitches, but the Exmoor weather is such that hardstandings make sense especially as the site is open throughout autumn and much of the winter. The great thing about this site is its location, right on the edge of Dulverton where you can buy everything you need. There is a butcher, greengrocer, patisserie/bread shop, deli, hardware shop, Post Office, a small Co-op supermarket, you name it, it's there. So don't bring all your food etc with you, just wander through to the village and support the wonderful little shops. Most of the shops are dog-friendly, as are the pubs, hotels etc. There are several places to get a meal, the Lion Hotel, the Bridge pub right by the site, Woods bar and restaurant, as well as a take-away doing Fish and Chips and pork sandwiches etc. There are walks from the site, or a short drive gets you out onto the moor for places such as Tarr Steps, Dunkery Beacon, Dunster, Lynton and Lynmouth, Watersmeet, Woody Bay. It is all just wonderful countryside.
