Lovely, very peaceful site with a great pub a few minutes walk through the woods

Our second visit, taking friends with us this time. The site is very quiet and we immediately relaxed after a busy week. Wardens are friendly and helpful and facilities very clean, although could do with a couple more washing-up sinks. Great walks through the woods and along the coast at Pett Level and around Fairlight. The Two Sawyers pub, a few minutes walk through the woods, has a friendly atmosphere and serves good food. We will definitely be back soon.

Great little site

Our second visit to Fairlight Wood and we were blessed with beautiful weather, our pitch no 35 was level and spacious although some others appeared smaller. Friendly welcome from unobtrusive wardens , small selection of essentials and ice cream available in reception. Facilities were maintained in immaculate condition and although site was full never had to queue. Great walks from site into Guestling woods and short stroll to Two Sawyers pub which is friendly and serves excellent food. A peaceful site with total silence at night. We visited Rye a lovely historical town with independant shops and lots of cafes and restaurants and Pett beach, large areas of which are dog friendly and our pooch enjoyed a dip in the sea to cool off, note there is no dog walk on site but as site is surrounded by woods, it was not a problem to us. Negatives, bin area was overflowing probably because site was full and they only have dustbins not dumpsters. Access road to site is very narrow with only a few passing places so dont try and arrive early ! Very much enjoyed our stay and will definately return a very good CAMC site.

Lovely helpful staff

I turned up here thinking I had booked for a few days as I had viewed the site on line. When I arrived the staff couldn’t find my reservation as I didn’t have one. They checked and found I was booked on to a different site. They showed me on a map where ‘my ‘ site was and told me it was about 3 hours drive they also showed me where I was supposed to be visiting on my way home - again 3 hours drive. They then suggested I stayed the night with them as they had space and they rang the other site to explain. The site was lovely and quiet and well maintained- a little too far off the beaten track for my liking though I did walk to the local pub through the woods, again rather quiet. Ideal location if you want to do a lot of walking or cycling or just relaxing.

Charming Site

Our first time at a Caravan Club site with our smaller camper van. It was perfect for us. Very peaceful and the facilities were absolutely immaculate. Lovely walking in the woods. The Two Sawyers pub was also enjoyed. Would definitely recommend and am sure we will be back.

Peaceful country site

Visited June 2019 for a 3 night stay. Well laid out, well run & friendly site. All amenities were good & fun woodland walk to the local pub which took approx 10 minutes. Site is opposite Guesting Wood which was a perfect dog walk area. Pretty location with nearby village of Pett which has an excellent butchers. Will visit again.

Beautiful wooded site

A gem of a site. Tucked away and surrounded by woods that are ideal for dog walking. We spent a lovely few days here and will certainly be returning. If you want to get out and about there is lots to see and do close by. On the other hand if you want peace and quiet and to enjoy lovely walks through the woods it’s a great spot. The walk to the local pub is thoughtfully marked through the woods, nice touch. The team who run the site were really friendly and always had time for a cheerful greeting or quick chat. The facilities are not the newest, but were immaculate. Yes, there are shady spots, but given it’s surrounded by woods that’s what I’d expect and it’s nice to have shade for our dogs. We will certainly be back

I must be the exception....

We stayed for a week in early June 2019 during a week of torrential rain, so that might have biased my opinion. First, the good points - it is very peaceful and quiet, the loos and showers are clean if a little old and the wardens are very friendly. The problem, I feel , is that the pitches are just not big enough for modern caravans. When we arrived, there were a couple of free pitches that we "might just fit with a squeeze" and a couple of others where we should be OK. Our van is 7.3 metres overall, we had a small porch awning and tow with a Mercedes GLC. We took a hedged pitch on the southern edge, aware that there'd be no sun. Without a motor mover, there is no way that we could have put the van in place (as proved by later arrivals to the adjacent pitch who gave up after 15 attempts). The awning was touching one hedge and to open the car door meant that the side of the car was in the other hedge. We had about 18 inches clearance at either end. The road into Pett is narrow and pot holed and the lane to the site is single track with cars parked in the passing places. There's no phone signal on the O2 network, radio reception is hindered by the trees, but there are hook up points for the TV. The utility pillars are oddly situated, so you will need 25 metre mains and aerial leads. I guess it is an older site and more suited to motor homes (there were more of these than caravans during our stay). Sadly, I don't think it's somewhere I'd rush back to.

Excellent first visit

Our first visit to this enchanting site, lovely quiet pitches surrounded by nature and wildlife. Pleasing dog walks right on the door step, your only choice is do I go left or right today? Excellent pub nearby accessed through the woods on a well marked path (bring a headtorch) This site had everything we needed including well stocked shop for essentials in reception, abundant information in the info room, laundry and a dog wash area! Wardens were attentive and seemed to be constantly tidying up and cleaning the facilities, the place was spotless. Only considerations, the final access road is narrow with passing places, but it's only a few hundred yards, and there is no TV reception unless you use the on site TV boosters (cables available in the shop if you don't have one) Perfect site for couples with or without dogs and families that are into nature, wildlife photography that sort of thing. If you want to get away from it all for a few days, this is the spot.

Immaculate best site we’ve stayed on, picturesque great for dog owners

I would highly recommend this site we stayed for a 2days the site is immaculate one of the best we have stayed at. As well as being spotless the location is idyllic and peaceful surrounded by woodland which is great for dog walking and easily leads to a great pub serving excellent food at reasonable prices. The wardens were very friendly, helpful and kind. John went above and beyond his duty to help us with a problem with the electrics in our camper van which he helped us solve. Would very highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again.

Well run campsite surrounded by picturesque woodland

This is an attractive peaceful site surrounded by ancient woodland. Well maintained, with all the facilities you would expect from a Caravan Club site including a clean & fully working shower block. Friendly & helpful wardens.
