Great site!

We stayed here for a couple of nights travelling from Brighton to skegness then a couple of nights on way home. Lovely setting ideal for walking our dog and cycling. The council has done an excellent job of the walks and paths in the area! We found some nice pubs the boathouse is mainly food pub but has small dog friendly area. My favourite was the Botolph arms quirky dog friendly cosy lovely samuel smith pub. About half an hour walk which is great for dog! We will definitely be returning to ferry meadows

Test Run for a new van

This is the 3rd time we have used this site to test a new caravan. Once again the weather was cold so the Alde heating was fully tested and passed with flying colours! Pleasant greeting from the wardens on arrival and all staff seemed friendly. Weather was good during our stay so we extended it for one more night and had plenty of walks from the site. Only time we used the car was to top up provisions from Sainsburys at the Bretton Centre, about 3 miles away. Overall we enjoyed our stay with the only downside being the condition that some others left the toilets in - why do they expect the poor wardens to clean up after them?? There were no children on site during our stay so the problem was caused by inconsiderate adults.

The best wardens ever

We were warmly welcomed on arrival and being low on gas asked if there was a refill available.  Unfortunately the supply had been sold out.  No trouble we were told as I'll order some tomorrow.  I was even offered the option to be phoned when it arrived.  What service! As usual, spotless facilities and a friendly face even when pouring with rain.  Well done to both couples who made our week stay a pleasure.

Great Place for All

Great site. Perfect for getting out and walking in the beautiful country park which is adjacent to the site. We have stayed at this site many many times and never tire of all the walks, facilities and wild life. Even in the busier times we find quiet paths for walking!! Our two dogs love it just as much as we do !!

Great site!

Great site, Wardens are fantastic, very very friendly and couldn't be more helpful.  Facilities clean and tidy and more then enough cubicles. TV signal is patchy but bollard connection is available which was good. EE phone signal weak and non existent and site WiFi was very slow. 0.28Meg download, 0.01 Upload. Great site, but bear the above in mind if work is required. Plenty of places around with free wifi though. Would go back without a doubt.

Great site thanks

A lovely site within the Ferry Meadows Country Park with easy access to walking paths and activities for children. The steam railway runs along the boundary some weekends and then in the summer. Please note that no provisions are sold at reception "out of season", so bring your own! Friendly wardens and lovely clean and warm facilities. Hottest showers on the network - great for cold winter Caravanning! There's lots of history in the area. Peterborough Cathedral is interesting and do go to Fotheringhay - birthplace of Richard III (of car park fame!), Kathrine of Aragon lived there and Mary Queen of Scots was executed there. These days fantastic food can be had at "The Falcon". Have a look around the village and then have a good lunch before going back to the site.

Surpassed expectations!

Okay, we had bright crisp days so this may have assisted in our joy at staying at Ferry Meadows but that is true of all sites. Initially we chose this site because it was a convenient journey for us and it was open all year. Peterborough was not on my bucket list of must see locations. How wrong can you be? Nene Valley Country Park, which Ferry Meadows is part of/adjacent to, is heaven for dog walkers, joggers, cyclists, young families and wildlife enthusiasts alike. If you are in more than one of these categories then it is virtually utopia. We were told by the information desk at Nene Park that parking rules are changing and that caravans and motorhomes will be allowed for day visitors. If this is correct it makes a good day out or stop over, even if you are not able to stay on Ferry Meadows. Cannot fault the campsite or wardens. Everything that you expect from the Caravan Club. Clean, friendly and well equipped. I guess that the only issue might be that some pitches seemed a long way from the toilet block so be prepared to use your own when necessary. For lovers of nostalgia the Nene Valley Railway runs adjacent to the site with a station less than a 100yds away. Sadly not running during our stay. However we will definitely return and would highly recommend to others too.

Excellent site and Excellent wardens

I have just returned from a 3 night break at Ferry Meadows. Never having been before I was not sure what to expect and I was not disappointed. The site was quite open (west site) this was probably because the trees had no foliage at this time of the year. The facilities on site were spotless. A bonus was the country park only a short walk from the site. I was amazed at how many people were visiting the park. All though it was a bit chilly we managed to complete all the walks around the park. I am sure it is totally different in the summer when the weather is warmer. The wardens on the site were very friendly and helpful with my enquiries (although I only came into contact with 3 of them, Phil and Bev Owen and the other lady who unfortunately I did not get her name). A special thank you to Phil who came to my rescue. On leaving the site to come home I had an embarrassing incident. I am not sure how the caravan became unhitched from the car and the breakaway cable snapped. Phil came and asked us if we were alright then he helped raise the caravan so we could reconnect to the car. He had noticed the cable had snapped and he provided a clip to do a temporary repair so we could get home. He would only accept my thanks. He was not obliged to help as this is not part of his duties but he did. He went above and beyond his duty on this occasion. Once again Phil a very special thank you. Because we were only there a few days we did not venture very far. We will be back and will spend a lot longer next time.
