Good for families

Time for a makeover and some parental re-education

Recently stayed at Ferry Meadows. We have been here a few times and always enjoy the visit. However, we were very surprised at how run down the site is starting to look now. I know some people have slated the wardens recently but to be honest I think its more to do with the lack of respect by visitors to the site. Although I understand there have been a few problems recently regarding the wardens I found them to be polite and trying thier best. This is a large site when both sides are open and it seemed to me that the wardens are having a tough time keeping up with the work load. The Toilet block on the B side was dirty most of the day with wet floors where people don't clean up after themselves. Toilets were full of mess where they hadn't been flushed or cleaned after use even though brushes are provided as are floor mops. The wash up area was disgusting with food waste being left in the drains and all over the floors. One of the sinks didn't work at all, seemingly the taps were broken. The grassed area was being cut when we arrived but because of the warm weather and heavy rain the grass was growing faster than the wardens could keep up with it. The dog bin near the gate was left full to overflowing for about 4 days with no sign that anyone was going to empty it. Overall the site is in a lovely location but the toilet block is old and tired and needs renovating. The wardens could also do with more help during the summer months and the visitors in general need a bit of an education in parental control and cleanliness. I bet they don't leave thier own homes in the state they left the washup and toilet facilities.

It's nice to see an honest review of the site and staff all four couples seem to work hard against what seems the attitude of some members towards others who try to be more socially awaresurprised

Had no problems with the wardens or what they were trying to do. I had my 3 grandchildren staying and the sign on the toilet block said children must be accompanied by an adult. However, this was not the case as most parents don't care what thier little charmers get up to while they are sun bathing and eating thier BBq's.

Needless to say we obeyed the rules but many don't.

We always use club sites including this one which we really enjoy, but have noticed a change in the last year in the way some members treat the facilities, I do not envy the wardens having to tackle these every day!!!! We were at another site last week and was horrified on two occasions to see excrement not just all over the toilet but on the walls and on the floor - and someone had to go in and clean !!!  I think they do an amazing job under very difficult circumstances.
