Excellent Located Site

Just recently spent 9 nights at this site.  First time we have used it and certainly won't be the last.  Site was spotless and very well kept.  We have 4 small dogs and the closeness of a fantastic and safe dog walk was a big plus point for us.  Forfar itself is easily reached by walking - only a short 10 mins and you are in the town centre.  We visited Dundee, Perth, Arbroath and Montrose the furthest less than an hours drive away.  We were pitched right beside a public play area however never thought the noise from the park was ever excessive.

EXTENDED WEEKEND BREAK

WE WERE THERE AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY AND HAD A PLEASANT 4TH STAY ON THE SITE. WE WERE PLEASED THAT IT WAS QUIET ON TH FRI AND SAT NIGHT BESIDE THE PLAY AREA OUTSIDE THE SITE AS PREVIOUSLY THERE HAS BEEN A CONGREGATION OF YOUTHS SHOUTING AND MAKING A LOT OF NOISE.A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED THIS TIME AS WE COULDN'T LET THE DOGS OFF THE LEAD AROUND THE LAKE BECAUSE OF THE TOXIC ALGAE PROBLEM. THE SITE WAS VERY CLEAN AND TIDY, A CREDIT TO THE WARDENS WHO OBVIOUSLY WORK VERY HARD. ONLY 5MINS WALK INTO THE TOWN WHICH IS CONVENIENT. ALL IN ALL A VERY NICE TRIP!

Excellent site but...

Just returned from our our fourth visit in recent years to Forfar Lochside. Site itself is excellent with two of the hardest working site wardens I have ever came across, both also very pleasant and helpful people. Facilities were kept spotless, site grounds tidy and neat. Others have described the site location,on the Lochside and convenient to the town. This was, on this occasion, the reason why I was not able to ward full marks for peace & quiet. All quiet on the actual site but our visit was somewhat spoiled by the large gang of young teenagers who gathered by the gate on the last evening to shout, sing(?) chant what sounded vaguely like football slogans, cycle into the site grounds and on at least one occasion some ran through and climbed over the fence down by the pedestrian access gate to the country park. Seemed as though they were just trying to provoke or draw a response from the site wardens who were doing their best to keep them out of the site. Took two visits from the police to move them on. Spoiled what had been an otherwise very enjoyable stay

So Forfar so good!

Second stay here and things have improved very much. The toilet/shower blocks is excellent, one of the best and the plots mostly very flat with good access roads. Only one small criticism is the lack of perhaps one more water/waste site as it was a bit of a walk from where we were. The site is so handy for the town and shopping etc. Forfar has perhaps seen better days but everything you need is well within walking distance. Staff very good as usual.

Excellent Site

We often stay at this site and as others have said its a good example for a CC Club Site. However on a recent visit we were surprised to see the toilet/shower block is now closed for  1 hour and 45 mins for cleaning, which we felt is a bit long, closed from 11 to 12 seems to be the average time. Only a small comment, as otherwise a well run site.

Game of two halves.

This site is immaculate, with stunning shower facilities which are kept pristine by the wardens. The leisure centre next door is useful for kids, as is the park. However, I feel a little disapointed as it's not as idyllic as I expected. The "lochside" is through a security fence, and its noisy at night with well meaning locals paying football, dog walking etc. perhaps we were naive, but we hoped for an idyllic lochside private location all to ourselves and fellow members?  Note to self: Google Earth before booking next time.

good site but less keen on Forfar

This is a pleasant site with modern spotless facilities. It is also conveniently situated, by Forfar Loch (a circuit of which makes an attractive and easy - flat - and short pre-breakfast run). It isn't far to walk into Forfar itself, but I didn't find Forfar to be an attractive town. It has an air of having seen better days. Just a personal view and others will no doubt disagree.

Lovely site, good location

Our first visit, it's a lovely site, friendly wardens excellent toilet and shower block, spotlessly clean. Good location by the small loch, we visited Arbroath, good parking on sea front to north side for motor homes and nice walk on the cliffs, town has seen better days. Fofar nice small town, supermarkets handy and a good base to visit the Angus Glens and Glamis. We will be returning to explore the area more.
