Virgin motorhomers

This was our first motorhome site experience so nowhere else to compare it to. Our only comment is the positioning of the water tap. We have a 6 berth van and there was no way we could reverse to get back out! With a bit more experience it should be easier but we felt it could have been in a more accessible position.

A hidden gem

If you want to get away from it all this is the place to come to, plenty of walks all set in stunning scenery. The wardens, (why do we call them wardens, they aren`t in charge of a prison) work hard at making your stay as comfortable as possible, helpful with local knowledge, keep the site and facilities spotless and are very welcoming. They certainly set a high standard for other sites to follow. Garlieston is definitely on our favourites list.

Beautiful location

This site is in a lovely location, the wardens keep it spotless and are very helpful. The pub seems to open when they feel like and need a few lessons in hospitality and manners.

Loved it

A great location at harbour's edge, compact and peaceful. All-you-could-eat grub at the local - for amazing price. Not that you can say the same for CC fees!

Hidden Gem...Just how it should be.

We normally do the Scottish Borders,Lakes and Northumberland but this time we decided to come over to the West Coast of Scotland for a change and was so glad that we did, The site was so easy to find, no tricky roads to contend with...phew!!! We arrived late tea time on the Monday and we we're greeted by Ann, polite and friendly so that was a good start, we got to pitch up on the Harbour side and the view out onto the Harbour and beyond was gorgeous so another positive..We were fortunate that the weather was kind to us (as it has its own Micro Climate according to Martin) there are plenty of places to go see and explore whether on foot or in the car.The site is beautifully maintained.....credit to the Wardens, the facilities are spotless and are more than adequate and we both hope to come back and explore so more...Thank you for Having us...

Garlieston Club Site

This has to be a real hidden gem in a part of Scotland that is so often over-looked as one heads north to Glasgow or the Highlands and Islands. The Machar is such a lovely under-stated area. Although our stay was only brief this time, there is so much to tempt one back; we are planning a September return to cycle some of the Sustrans routes. The site is beautifully positioned and as neat and tidy as you expect club sites to be. The wardens are charming and exceedingly helpful, so there's really no reason not to visit. So, head west after Carlisle and find a wonderful hidden corner!

March 2015 - Three day visit

Stopped at this site for three days in March 2015. Easy to find, coming off the A75 (which is a good road) and heading south. The site is very clean. The staff are really friendly and helpful - even offering to lend out OS maps of the area. This is a very quiet site. We stopped on the harbour side - with a fantastic view overlooking the bay. There were two of us and a dog. Walking in the area was really good - quiet and peaceful (and we had excellent weather!). The local pub (Harbour Inn) serves good, reasonably priced, food and is dog friendly. Would recommend this site and will be going back again in the future.
