Excellent site

this is an excellent site that gets better every time I visit. Lovely location within walking distance of lovely Dales village with lots of good walks and attractions nearby.  Very impressed with the new dog walk, very spacious and kept very clean and tidy. Please don't develop this in the future . Very friendly and helpful wardens and good tv signal without need of site booster.  Excellent wifi from site and good phone signal.  Will be back next year.

Gem Site

Our first visit to this lovely Dales village.  The wardens on site are lovely, can't do enough for you.  The dog walk is fab, with fab views.  We did guite a few walks from the site, it is a walkers paradise, you can walk for ages and not spot anyone.  Another plus for the Caravan Club is that they have two lovely holiday cottages on site.  We found eating out a real treat, the White Hart has a roaring fire, lovely food and a good drink off Porter Ale. The lovely oldie world shops meant that we did a lot of going in them as well. Hope to visit again next year.

Beautiful location.

Hawes is s lovely little Dales village with some nice shops and a few good pubs. The site is just a short stroll away and nicely landscaped. Ok, the tiles in the toilet block look a bit dated but there are enough showers and everything was always spotlessly clean. TV reception is ok with the booster (BBC channels not good) and I had a phone signal though no 3G but the pubs nearby have free wifi. But if you come to beautiful North Yorkshire and worry about not getting on Facebook etc, it's a sad thing! A sign in a pub in Leyburn stated, 'No feckin wifi! Try talking to someone!' A visit to the Wensleydale cheese factory is a must but our favourite outing was a lovely walk along the country lanes from the site to the Green Dragon pub. It is very old & atmospheric with lovely food and a short walk up a path at the rear leads to the highest waterfall in England! A very pretty walk and stunning scenery. Overall, a great site. We would definitely go again.

First time here

This is the first time we have stayed at Hawes. The whole experience was brilliant. From booking in at reception to leaving. Quiet clean friendly. Easy access to the town and surrounding areas. Good pubs and eating.  Great day out at Bolton Castle. Loads of walking and stunning scenery. Will definitely be back

An enjoyable break

I phoned the site a few weeks before our break and got a very pleasant warden having looked on line and seen that the time we wished was fully booked, she looked on her booking list and told me that my dates would not be a problem 1 pitch with awning. A few days before we were due on site I phoned again and asked if a serviced pitch was free, again getting a very pleasant warden and she modified my booking and sent me an E mail right away. My wife and I found the site to be very good and the staff all very helpful. The site is situated close to town which has plenty of eating places and watering holes. I think our only moan would be the state of the roads leading to Hawes itself perhaps not the wearing surface but the state of the plant life at the side of the roads and the number of tight bends and dips after leaving the major road system, but there again one is in the middle of a national park and rural setting. Again a very good break with good caravan club staff.

Peace and quiet - think again!!

We picked this site thinking it would be nice and peaceful, the site was full for most of the time we were there but still plenty of room as it is well laid out. Nice to be within an easy stoll to the town where there are plenty of pubs, shops, cafes etc. Lots to do and loads to see, views are out of this world getting to the site and travelling. Now the peace and quite issue - apart from the noise coming from the farm which you expect in the country side, the main complaint was the noise from members yapping dogs which they seem to think is funny! Early hours of the morning just as it is dawning you are woken by the Hawes dog choir, I think about half of the units on site had dogs and not just 1. Also agree with the 5mph comments and the 1 way system is a joke no one was taking any notice of it may need some more arrows on road or signs.

3rd visit and we will return!

We love this site.  The scenery from the site is lovely, but within a short walk it is truly beautiful.  There is a reasonably easy walk along the Pennine Way to Hardraw, which is lovely walk, but you can just keep going, drinking in the scenery. Hawes is a pretty town and just a short walk from the site. It has the rope makers, an interesting place to visit, the countryside museum next door, which is all Yorkshire and then obviously, the Wensleydale Creamery (aka the cheese factory) where they are very generous with free sampling of yummy Wensleydale cheese in lots and lots of flavours.  The cafe here is very nice too. We love this area, love this site and will definitely be back.

A quiet haven on the edge of the village

This is the second year we have stayed at the site for the summer bank holiday weekend. Again the site was full, but adequate spacing between the caravans and the way the park is laid out still meant it was relatively quiet and peaceful. Toilet facilities maintained to the expected good level and would definitely come back for another year. Pleasant stroll across the fields to Hardraw Force which was in a good flow given the relatively wet summer-quite spectacular!
