Remote for a club site but fine as a rural location near canal

I had read the comments about the remoteness of this site, but having stayed here for 6 nights I fully endorse these. For a club site with 46 pitches, the approach lanes beyond Marston are too narrow for regular use by touring caravan outfits. I do not know how much the site is used - the warden suggested that it had been busy, but during our stay just after Easter, including a weekend, there were about 8 pitches occupied, plus a few unoccupied caravans, presumably seasonal. Leaving the site by car alone was easier except that the lane at the edge of High Onn village, which was the only option if going towards Church Eaton, had a surface so appalling I was surprised it could even be shown on the OS map as a road. More locally though, we appreciated the nearness of the canal, within 10 minutes walking distance, and we enjoyed our walks beyond Wheaton Aston and to Norbury Junction. On the site, having known and accepted the absence of a toilet block, we were quite happy with the service point provision, and the warden maintained it well, mowing most of the grass areas while we were there. Wildlife was plentiful.
