The site itself is ok, although we were told to keep left and left for some reason, which was the landscaped area with some pitches shrouded with overgrown trees which were dark and damp looking. There was a larger open area with a couple of statics pitched up, but that wasn’t an option given to us, although by the time we left (4 night stay) there were caravans pitched there. We managed to get a pitch away from the trees thankfully. The facilities, ie, the showers/toilets, the laundry/wash up area and the TV room were like something out of the 1960s. All the facilities are in desperate need of updating. The furniture in the TV room was a disgrace, I wouldn’t want to sit on it. The site itself was quite nicely maintained, although they really need to limit the time they use loud machinery, ie, leaf blowers and strimmers, it went on for hours. Our biggest gripe was on the day we left. The set up at this site is that you pay 20 euros for a gate fob which does,the obvious, however when you leave you swap the gate fob for the 20 euros, simple. Except on the day we tried to leave at 10.10, there was a sign on the door saying ‘back at 10.45’. I spent the next 10 minutes walking around the site looking for the manager, but another camper told me he had seen the manager drive out in his car earlier. This fellow camper very kindly offered to give us 20 euros and we agave him our gate fob. There was a good 5 minute walk from the gate to the caravan park and I walked this 6 times in order for us to eventually leave. I was so cross that I phoned the manager en route and asked him if it was normal to leave the office unmanned when people were leaving in the morning - his response was “I had an errand to run and then I got stuck behind a coach so was late back” - this wouldn’t happen with the Caravan and Motorhome Club. It seems to me that this site is run on a shoestring and the customer suffers as a consequence. Would I stay here again? ‘definitely not”. Would I recommend this site? ‘definitely not”. It has a lot of potential, but as it stands presently ....... I’d say, find somewhere else to stay ......
