Standard Club site but very noisy

We stayed here for 2 nights in July as we were visiting a friend who lives in the town. We arrived at a busy time so had a limited choice of pitches, and ended up on pitch 2. All I can say is don't choose pitch 1 or 2 if you like peace and quiet! It's right next to the main road with just a fence and a few shrubs between you and a constant stream of cars, lorries, buses, motorbikes, emergency vehicles and trains! The level crossing just down the road frequently meant that the traffic stood idling so the fumes drifted over the fence making it unpleasant to have the doors and windows open despite the heat, and sitting outside was not an option for long. We did look around for a different pitch on the second day, but the only free non-awning pitch had no shade whatsoever and was on a corner so had no privacy either. There did look to be nicer pitches further over the site but I suspect these are filled early, so arrive early if you want a nicer spot. On the plus side, the facilities were clean and the drive-over waste for motorhomes was useful. However, despite being directly opposite a service point, we were not allowed to connect a hose to fill up the water tank and had to fill by hand which was a tad annoying. We probably would choose a smaller, quieter CL if we were to visit the area again.
