Fourth Visit - Very Pleased

Here we are again on the lovely Modbury site - wind blowing a gale, rain against the windows, but happy to be back. Never met better site managers than Deb and Rich - nothing's too much trouble. If you are not sure of your driving skills, either brush them up or choose a site nearer to a main road. Reminds us of when in Northern Scotland - great to visit, but be aware of other road users - no problem! We cannot praise the maintenance enough - should be able to award six ticks. Our only negative is that next year, the site is planned to be shut from 9th September, so our autumn tour will have to include other sites instead.

Our regular relaxation place

Love this site, always guaranteed peace & relaxation - 9 miles to our favourite beach Mothecombe and 5 days of fantastic sunshine Had a lovely breakfast at the Ring Feeder taking in the views (dog friendly inside & out), the continental breakfast was also amazing. It was the week for the relief wardens and Bill & Carol were very friendly & welcoming while Debbie & Richard had their well earned few days off A lot of the grass pitches were out of action due to the poor weather in July but still plenty of choice An annoying thing the club have chosen to do is charge a different price structure for the grass/hard standing pitches - it was much better when you could just choose a white peg and drive round

First Visit

First visit here and this is a lovely site. Staff very welcoming and friendly, The site is spacious, clean and well maintained, good advice from the staff regarding available pitches on our arrival, thank you. the local lanes can be challenging but this is Devon, allow extra time and expect to be patient when navigating the lanes, the locals are not very friendly when having to give way to a caravans but the narrow lanes and give way points work and the site is so lovely a few extra moments on your journey is well worth it, we did have issues with a large group of tents but credit to the staff, they dealt with this issues and we will definitely be back

Very pleasant and peaceful site

We have just returned from two weeks on this lovely site. Debbie and Richard are very friendly and welcoming hosts - a great asset to the Club. The site is spacious and well cared for, in particular the grass pitches. There is no doubt that the local lanes can be challenging but patience and consideration will be reciprocated by other road users. Comments in some reviews about the access seem unfairly critical as we encountered no problems at all getting to and from the site. The garage and Spar shop just a mile from the site are very useful, the shop was well stocked and the staff very amenable. Our advice would be don't be put off by the access as it is well worth the journey and the warm welcome when you arrive on site.

Roads are a nightmare

The site and staff were lovely and the the cleanliness and helpfulness was 10/10. However, the local roads were narrow and very scary, even when driving just the car, let alone towing. Locals who are familiar, drive like nutters in their beat up trucks. There is no way to access this site without using narrow roads. If you're a nervous driver, I wouldn't recommend.

A Great Site

We have just got back from a week on this site. Do not understand the comments that have been made about access, yes country lanes, follow directions provided, lots of passing places, if another caravan in front leave 50-100mtrs gap so you do not try to cram into a single passing place - a little common sense. Site is great, wardens very visible and welcoming, facilities clean and tidy, best dog field we have come across at a CAMC club site. For a CAMC club site reasonably priced. We will be going back.

Fantastic Site

What a beautiful and well kept site, the Wardens Richard and Debbie keep this site absolutely wonderful, the peace and tranquility is second to none. We spent a week at this site and were lucky enough to have beautiful weather, an ideally located site to view many of the coastal areas such as Dartmouth, Salcompe, Hop Cove, Bigbury, Challaborough. Some people moan about the road in, but if you plan you’re arrival the road can be quiet, and local residents are quite courteous with caravans, the road in is not the fault of the wardens or the CAMC. Would recommend this site to anyone as its first class, speaks for itself when we’ve been there 3 times in the last 12 months and plan to be back there again in August.

A real gem

What a wonderful site - spacious, peaceful, welcoming and so well-cared for and maintained. Since leaving yesterday I have heard that Debbie and Richard won an award recently and I say that is very well deserved. They seem to really care about all the visitors and the site itself. The dog walking field is something else - safe, well away from roads and a delight even at 6 o'clock in the morning (our dog clearly couldn't bear to be away for long!) Modbury is an easy drive from the site, on a very quiet road. We also walked it along the footpath, which takes you through beautiful fields and along brooks. Such a treat! Modbury itself is a lovely town to visit, but also there is the chance to explore further afield, with Kingsbridge, Salcombe, Bigbury, Wembury and Plymouth not far away. Access to the wilds of Dartmoor was easy via Ivybridge. We had lovely weather, so took advantage of the beaches nearby and the beautiful coast walks. We didn't encounter a single problem with travelling with our caravan, both on the way in or out. Locals are used to seeing caravans and motorhomes, so are prepared and take the roads as cautiously as we did. There are plenty of passing places and, if worried, it is easy enough to plan your arrival and departure at quiet times. Thank you for an amazing stay and for making us feel so welcome.

Recent stay

We had a wonderful time at Modbury, friendly greeting, peace and quiet, well looked after site, spacious surroundings, best dog field we have been too, happy helpful wardens. Facilities were kept very clean, but felt they definitely needed to be refurbished, need modernising, very dated, and please put back the shower curtains. Would definitely return.

Another Fab Stay at Modbury

We stay here regularly, its a lovely well kept site & peaceful. We've recently had 6 nights in amazing weather, what more could you wish for. Close enough to Bigbury, Mothecombe & Bantham. Totnes, Kingsbridge, Salcombe & Dartmouth are all within easy reach. We had an amazing breakfast at Valley View Cafe (Near Loddiswell) - dog friendly & also has a great Farm Shop attached Aune Valley Meat. We went to South Devon Chilli Farm (plants & farm shop) & Heron Valley Cider which has a lovely cafe & shop attached and amazing views. Can't not mention the super well kept dog field on site which is cut beautifully! and you get great view of the sunset from there. The road in was slightly busier than usual the week we were there due to a road diversion/closure, people do moan about the road in but don't let it detract from the peace & tranquility of the site. At the end of the day CAMC can't change the roads - welcome to Devon!
