Fantastic site, great staff

We arrived here late after weather delays on the roads, we were allowed to select our own pitch in a nice quiet sheltered area of the site. Brilliant service from the staff and beautiful quiet site with walks along the sandy beach and crystal clear water. Lots of space between pitches and smooth level ground, even with lots of rain the drainage is great so no need for hard standing imo This site really is a gem, with Mull of Galloway, port Logan fish pond and Portpatrick all short drives away the location is great. All in all a brilliant experience and one we will be sure to visit again and again

Great Relaxation

Stayed here for a week from 1st July site is among the dunes right on the bay with direct access to the beach. Pitches are all large and mainly grass/sandy with 2 toilet blocks one at each end of the site (one block closed as site only 30% full). Facilities are due for a refurb but wardens keep them spotless. Access roads all good and lots to see and do in the area. There is a post office and store in both Sandhead and Drummore which are well stocked. Drummore has a nice pub, The Ship and Port Patrick has a lot of eating places both are reasonably close to the site. It is 15 years since we last stayed at this site but we will be back and cannot understand why it was so quiet. For families it has the beach (and you can launch boats, canoes etc FOC), kids play area and inside play room with table tennis but yes I would agree there is little else for children in the area. In my opinion, if you want to stay away from everyone cramming for the best view pitches 62, 63 & 64 are the best for this. At £27 per night I feel this was good value for the week.

Almost perfect for us.

This is the site we return to every year, knowing exactly what we'll get - peace and quite, and space to relax and forget about real life. It may not suit everyone (especailly those without a car etc) - there is no pub or shop in easy walking distance, and I'm not sure if it's on a bus route. But if you want to get away from serried rows of caravans, and park up with nothing but windbushes behind you, this is the site for you. But beware - the new WiFi system hasn't reached here yet and phone signal depends on where you pitch. We were with EE and it was adequate. Likewise TV signal. It's described as "fair", and you're more likely to pick up Northern Ireland stations. No problem. Will we be back next year? Definitely!

Peaceful, stunning campsite

Excellent staff, very helpful and knowledgeable. Site clean and tidy. Great location on the Rhinns of Galloway, cycled to Mull of Galloway RSPB site along quiet country lanes, excellent cafe at RSPB site. Cycles to Port Logan, and to Drunmore. Swimming in sea, very safe, shallow water, warm. Highly recommend to take a visit.

Open the second facilities block on this large site

We love this site- the location is unique- it’s just pure rest and relaxation. Imagine our surprise and disappointment when walking around the large site we found the second toilet block and washing up area closed. What’s going on here? if the facilities are reduced by half surely the number of pitches available should be reduced accordingly- on health and safety grounds? By closing this block located in the centre of this large site you are drastically limiting our choice of pitch - this is a very personal review- we have a small camper van with no onboard toilet, my husband has problems walking and other health issues require us to choose a quiet pitch. We know this site has an abundance of quiet pitches but they were just too far from the only functioning facilities block. I think you must refer to the fact that not all facilities are open on the information page of every site impacted by the decision to close these basic requirements for a happy relaxing holiday! Communication is the key here.

Our "home" site

We use this site as our benchmark for quality of experience. It is everything the website says it is, and more. We can drive to it in less than an hour so we visit quite often.

Super Site

We have just spent a wonderful few days at this site and I can honestly say it is one of my favourite as the peace and quiet is just perfect. If you value relaxing days away from it all with beach walks and sea views this is the site for you. The staff are lovely and you can see how hard they work as the toilet and shower blocks are immaculate along with the general care of the site. My husband says I am very hard to please but when I am happy it shows and this site makes me very happy and I would have gladly stayed longer. This site is worth the price charged and I hope to return and I do hope after reading my review you visit too as you won't be disappointed. A big 'thank-you' to the wardens for a real gem of a site!

Our Favourate place

We first came in 2001 and have been here most years ever since. So wonderfully peaceful and relaxing, lots of space and direct access to a lovely beach. A trip to the mull and a brew in Galleycraig whilst there is a must. Port Logan, Logan gardens and Sandhead are all worth visiting as is Port Patrick. The Village store in Drummore is well stocked. The nearest supermarkets and fuel are in Stranraer. The gardens atCastle Douglas and Glenwhan are both good to visit. It is a long drive from everywhere ( 125 miles from Carlisle ) and very isolated. We got home this week after 11 nights there, as always the wind blew trying to blow us off the face of the earth a couple of times and we had downpours where the rain comes in sideways, but then as always the weather changes and the sun comes out. They have put code operated locks on the toilet block entrances to keep out the freeloaders who since Covid have started parking on the beach car park and sneaking in across the beach to use the facilities.

My favourite club site

been going there for years and years just been for our first year, they have new wardens and they are very keen and helpful if needed, when the weather is good it is lovely and theres a vast selection of different pitches, toilet facilities are spotless and now theyve put key codes on the doors to keep the freeloaders out who park outside and come in and mess the toilets up. The surounding area is lovely and tranquil its an oasis in a turbulent world.
